Chapter 62 Has It Been Discovered?
The tone was cold, carrying a heavy warning.
My unease grew stronger. Cyril’s situation now seemed worse than I had imagined.
After warning the person, he leaned in again to the receiver, softly reassuring me, “Stay calm and wait for me.”
He ended the call.
In the final second of the video feed, I saw a hand offering a drink, the liquid in the glass both vibrant and dangerous.
No! This wasn’t right!
He had saved me countless times, so I couldn’t just stand by and watch him fall into a trap.
Since he hadn’t told me the exact location, I would have to find it myself!
I immediately called Darian and briefly explained my intentions.
Darian was always efficient, and within half an hour, he had found the bar Cyril was in.
I looked down at the message–an isolated yet luxurious bar named Nightfall Bar, accessible only to the elite.
Coincidentally… Nightfall Bar was an establishment I had shares in.
I knew the bar’s operational model; there were many secret dealings going on there.
Because of that, I was even more certain that Cyril was in danger!
I quickly changed my clothes and headed to Nightfall Bar. Before leaving, I arranged for a few people to stand by near the bar, ready to assist at any moment.
I had to ensure Cyril got out of this safely no matter what.
Nightfall Bar was unusually quiet tonight. Too quiet, in fact.
Just as I was about to enter, a waiter stopped me. “Sorry, madam, the bar has been reserved for a VIP event
tonight. We are closed to the public.”
I stared at him. His tone was firm, and the bodyguard behind him seemed prepared to take action. If I didn’t leave, they would forcibly remove me.
I didn’t panic. Instead, I pulled out a medal from my pocket, a symbol of authority within Prosperity Group.
The waiter’s face shifted slightly. I coldly asked, “You mean, even I can’t go in?”
He glanced at the medal, recognized its special insignia, and immediately changed his attitude, bowing respectfully and repeatedly apologizing. “I’m terribly sorry, I didn’t recognize you. How may I help you?”
I replied indifferently, “Open the door.”
Without hesitation, the waiter opened the door for me. He whispered, “Mr. Hodge is meeting with an important guest and doesn’t want to be disturbed. Please be careful.”
I narrowed my eyes. Philip again?

When had Cyril gotten involved with him?

My unease deepened, but I didn’t show any sign of it. I simply said to the waiter, “Alright, I see. Thank you.
Don’t tell anyone I am here today.”
The waiter quickly nodded. “Of course.”
With that, he flashed me a sycophantic smile. I pulled a check from my wallet and handed him one hundred
thousand as a reward for the information.
His smile grew more genuine. I asked him which private room Philip was in and then dismissed him.
Before entering the room, I pulled out my phone and sent a message to the people waiting outside.
Once everything was set, I pushed open the door and entered.
I was ready to face Philip, even mentally prepared for the encounter.
However, to my surprise, the room was empty.
Only the scent of alcohol lingered in the air.
I frowned slightly and walked in.
Recalling my video call with Cyril earlier, I noticed that the corner of the room resembled the spot where he had been sitting.
I was sure this had been Cyril’s seat.
I walked over and instinctively glanced at a glass on the table.
It was an empty glass, but there were tiny particles clinging to the sides.
The particles were very small, only noticeable upon close inspection.
I pinched a small amount and brought it to my nose. The familiar scent made my lips tighten.
The drink had been spiked!
No wonder Cyril had looked so dazed on the video earlier! Someone had tampered with his drink!
But Cyril was always cautious–how could he have fallen for such a trick?
My unease deepened, and I decided to use my authority to access the security footage. However, the footage
had been damaged when Cyril left.
The screen was full of static, and my brow furrowed. Fortunately, before the footage was corrupted, I saw the
direction Cyril had gone in.
He was being chased by a group of people, running toward the third floor.
I turned off the footage and rushed out.
As I reached the stairwell, I heard hurried footsteps and voices talking.
Their accents were thick, and while I couldn’t make out the words clearly, I could tell they were after Cyril.
From their conversation, I pieced together that Cyril had taken something very important from them, and they
were pursuing him.
I lowered my gaze and moved quickly, avoiding their line of sight as I headed for the third floor.

I was a shareholder of Nightfall Bar, and I had been here before, so I was familiar with the layout.
Besides…
That day–the day that had felt like a nightmare for me.
Sylvia was taken, and we were all searched thoroughly, as if every single life was being hunted down.
I had hidden and run in the wilderness, living in constant fear for three days, until I finally managed to
escape.
Those three days taught me how to cover my tracks, and I haven’t forgotten that lesson.
After all, the price I paid for that experience had almost been my life.
Since then, I had grown stronger and even trained in survival skills, which I still relied on today.
Philip’s people hadn’t found me. I carefully searched for Cyril’s whereabouts.
Until…
I found a coin at the entrance to one of the private rooms.
I immediately recognized it–it was Cyril’s.
Though it looked identical to any other coin, it had a shallow dent. He always carried it with him, and it was
said to have been a gift from his mother. I had seen it before.
If my guess was right, Cyril had been here!
I carefully pushed the door open. The room was empty, and it didn’t look like anyone had been there recently.
I frowned. Had I been mistaken?
Instinctively, I glanced around again. Just as I reached the wall, voices came from outside the door. “It’s here! Someone seems to have entered just now–I saw a shadow!”
My heart skipped a beat–no, I’d been discovered!
The door handle started to turn, and the next moment, the door might be forced open!
