Chapter 73 Cadell Gets Beaten
Darian moved quickly. The very next day, as soon as I arrived at the company, I heard whispers that Prosperity Group was interested in working with the Hartman family.
Of course, this was just internal chatter and hadn’t been made public yet.
After all, I’d worked hard to build Prosperity Group, and I wasn’t ready for the Hartman family to tarnish its reputation.
Even so, just the hint of collaboration was enough to get the Hartman family excited.
Given that Prosperity Group was leagues above them, this jewelry project presented a golden opportunity. If the partnership went well, the Hartman family stood to gain significant profits and perhaps even elevate their
status.
What should have been good news, however, left Cadell looking glum all day.
Holding back a smirk, I pretended to be concerned. “What’s wrong? Isn’t it good news that Prosperity Group wants to collaborate?”
Cadell hesitated, then finally gritted his teeth and said, “It’s all Cyril’s fault! Prosperity Group specifically wants to work with him! Grandpa never thought much of Cyril before, but now…
He didn’t finish, but I understood. If Cyril secured the deal, his standing with Charles would rise dramatically.
I felt a secret delight but feigned a worried expression. “What? Prosperity Group wants to work with him? That’s not good. If Cyril takes this opportunity, I’m really afraid Charles will give him more shares.”
Cadell’s face grew even tenser at my words.
I knew full well that Cyril was infinitely more capable than Cadell. undoubtedly deliver results.

Given how closely their shares were matched, Cadell’s chances of outdoing Cyril were s
Cadell was aware of this too. After my comment, I refrained from adding fuel to the fire.
Saying too much might arouse suspicion.
I pretended to be concerned, asked him a few more questions, and then made an excuse to get back to work.
All day, Cadell was visibly on edge, even bumping into people in the hallway multiple times.
Seeing him so dejected put me in a great mood. Even when Lorna tried to cause trouble for me, I felt no

This ordeal hit Cadell hard. His patience with people and situations vanished, and he frequently got into
arguments over trivial matters.
From what I heard, Loma had already been on the receiving end of two or three of his outbursts.
Sensing the shift in the atmosphere, Lorna resigned on her own and never came back to the company.

Edmund didn’t hold back either. With the stolen trade secrets in hand, he quickly anatched a major order from Cadell,
To make matters worse, he orchestrated a large–scale trap that caused the Hartman family significant financial losses.
Compared to what I’d lost when exposing the True Love Ring, this was a far greater blow
Currently, the Hartman family’s liquid assets were down to less than three million dollars.
Aside from covering employee salaries, there was hardly any money left.
I saw Charles in the conference room, furious, slamming documents onto the table.
When Cadell emerged from Charles’s office, his face bore two vivid red handprints.
It was clear Charles had struck him–and not lightly, as the corner of his mouth was split.
When Cadell saw me, he approached, his eyes filled with exhaustion.
To draw him further into my trap, I patiently comforted him.
I put on a concerned look and said, “Why is Charles so angry? The lost trade secrets aren’t your fault–why would he hit you?”
My words hit a nerve. Cadell rasped, “It’s because of Cyril! He went to Grandpa’s office and made snide remarks, which set him off! Damn him!”
Hearing this, I furrowed my brow slightly. “You shouldn’t talk like that. If someone hears and tells Charles, it’ll only make him angrier”
Cadell nodded repeatedly, then fell silent. Gripping my wrist, he said tiredly, ‘Aurora, I knew you were the only one who truly cares about me.”
I had no patience for his sweet talk. While he didn’t find it nauseating, I felt somewhat uncomfortable.
“Cadell, do you know who leaked the trade secrets? You were in charge of this project from the beginning. If something goes wrong, the responsibility will fall squarely on your shoulders. Who would want to harm you?” I got straight to the point.
Cadell’s expression grew serious instantly, as if he already had someone in mind.
After all, this project had been underway before I married Cadell. Other than a few core members of the
company, almost no one else had access to it. Those key personnel were trustworthy and had all signed confidentiality agreements, they wouldn’t have leaked the secrets.
So who else had access to the classified information?
I didn’t wait for him to answer, instead prompting him further. “If the perpetrator was so well–prepared, they must have gathered a significant amount of information. The classified document must have been stolen recently. Cadell, think carefully–has anyone unusual been around your office lately?”
With that suggestion, Cadell seemed to realize something. His expression darkened further, as if he had
reached a conclusion.
I smiled inwardly. “Cadell, why not check the security footage to confirm? If you can identify the suspect, Charles might not be so angry.”

Cadell’s lips pressed tightly together, his eyes darkened, and he seemed deep in thought
I was very curious–if he found out that the person who stole the trade secrets was Lorna, how would he
