Chapter 76 Enemy
I didn’t respond directly and only said vaguely, “Let’s focus on the main issue first, we can discuss compensation later.”
The moment I finished speaking, the shimmering light in his eyes seemed to dim slightly.
Still, ever the gentleman, he didn’t press me. Instead, he gave a light chuckle and replied, “Sure, I’m happy to
help”
I touched my warm ear and quickly hung up.
If this continued, I might really find myself falling under Cyril’s spell!
I quickly turned my attention to the surveillance feed, hoping to distract myself by watching Cadell and
Lorna’s interaction,
Just as I suspected, Cadell was a weak man–easily swayed by a few sweet words from Lorna.
At the moment, he was gently holding her, reassuring her in a soft tone. “I’m sorry. I overreacted today, but
this trade secret is very important to me. You…
Before he could finish, his phone rang.
Cadell paused, then lowered his head and pulled his phone from his pocket
As soon as he saw the caller ID, his expression darkened, a storm brewing in his eyes.
Lorna noticed the shift in his mood and quickly urged him, “Answer it. What if it’s something urgent?”
Trying to appear strong in front of Lorna, Cadell gritted his teeth and answered the call.
I wasn’t sure exactly what Cyril said to Cadell, but it was clearly intense.
Cadell’s face grew darker with every passing moment, and I heard him say, low and tense, “Cyril, you only got Prosperity Group’s attention by sheer luck. Do you really think landing this deal will make Grandpa favor you? I’m the one he values most! Stop dreaming!”
Though he said that, I could clearly see the fear in his eyes.
Cyril must have said something more, because Cadell’s anger flared even hotter. He gritted his teeth, struggling to keep his composure.
Lorna seemed to sense something was wrong and reached out, as if to comfort him. “Cadell…
But before she could touch him, he suddenly shoved her away.
Lorna’s face instantly filled with fear and confusion, as if she couldn’t understand why Cadell, who had just been so gentle with her, was now turning on her.
I raised an eyebrow. Cyril’s words had clearly hit a nerve, pushing Cadell beyond his breaking point.
At this moment, I doubted Cadell could still remain under the influence of so-called love.
No way
For someone as self–centered as him, the role of heir mattered far more.

Sure enough, after hanging up, Cadell turned to Lorna with a cold look. “You’ve been lying to me, haven’t you?”
Lorna was caught off guard by the question. In her mind, she thought the matter had been put to rest, not
dragged up again.
She froze for a few seconds, unsure how to reply.
But Cadell continued to stare her down, his eyes filled with suspicion. “Lorna, I specifically marked and
encrypted that trade secret file. You couldn’t possibly have missed that, could you?”
I arched an eyebrow. It was laughable that Cadell was only now questioning this.
Lorna’s face turned pale as she shook her head quickly. “Cadell, I swear I didn’t know what it was! I love you
so much–if I knew it would hurt you, how could I have given it to anyone?”
Cadell scoffed, his eyes dark with contempt. “Didn’t you wonder why a file was worth a million dollars? Lorna, stop lying. You couldn’t possibly not know. You’re not a child!”
Lorna looked utterly bewildered, unable to understand why Cadell, who had believed her just moments ago.
now doubted her.
She tried to explain, but Cadell didn’t give her the chance. His hand rose swiftly and came down hard on
Lorna’s face!
The slap was so forceful that her cheek immediately swelled, and her lip split, blood beginning to seep out.
Clutching her face, Lorna shouted furiously, “Cadell, how dare you hit me!”
“How dare you steal my trade secrets and betray me? Why shouldn’t I hit you?! Lorna, haven’t I treated you well enough? Do you even have a heart?” Cadell bellowed angrily. It was fortunate that the room next door was mine–otherwise, their noise might have already made someone call the police.
After slapping Lorna, Cadell still didn’t seem satisfied. He shoved her forcefully against the wall, Lorna let out a pained groan as she hit her head..
“Lorna Hill! You betrayed me on purpose! When you stole my files, you must have known what consequences I’d face! If you care so little about me, why should I care about you? If you had the nerve to do it, you’ll have to pay the price!”
I munched on my chips, feeling quite pleased as I watched Cadell finally see reason. It seemed Cyril’s prodding had been quite effective.
He had made himself so clear that Lorna couldn’t continue playing dumb anymore.
She could only look at him with tear–filled eyes, trying to plead. “I really didn’t think it through, Cadell…”
“Speak! Who did you sell my files to? If you don’t tell me, get ready to go to jail!” Cadell’s voice was even
colder
Lorna’s face turned pale as a sheet. She kept glancing toward the stairwell. I raised an eyebrow–she had clearly found backup.
