Chapter 82 I Want to Marry Aurora
I helped Cadell back onto the hospital bed and carefully treated his wounds.
The excitement bubbling inside me made it difficult for me to stay calm. The thought of soon gaining access
to their family’s operation chain left me somewhat distracted. While tending to his injuries, I ended up causing him pain a few times.
Cadell didn’t get angry. He’d only furrow his brow slightly.
After achieving my goal, I softened my attitude and started taking greater care of him.
Seeing my gentler demeanor, Cadell finally relaxed a bit.
Earlier, in the heat of our argument, he’d sent the caretaker away. Now there was no one else in the room–he had no choice but to rely on me.
To ensure we’d be ready for the evening’s plan, I purchased a manual wheelchair for him. This way, I could have full control over his movements.
Once I’d soothed him, I gently suggested, “Why don’t you go see Charles later and apologize? He’s spent so many years grooming you as his successor. If he sees you like this, he’s bound to feel sympathetic.”
Cadell seemed reluctant. I pressed on. “If Charles still favors you, Cyril’s achievements won’t matter–he’ll never be able to take your place. Do as I say, okay? Just trust me.”
I made my case clear. Cadell wasn’t foolish; after a brief moment of thought, he nodded. “Alright.”
I was pleased. Cadell’s unusual behavior, once seen by Charles, would surely set off alarm bells. Charles would start to suspect something, perhaps even assign someone to keep an eye on Cadell. This meant our plans would soon reach his ears. And that was exactly what I wanted.
Relieved, my thoughts turned to Sylvia’s face–her childhood image, frozen in my memory. With the years that had passed, I could no longer clearly recall her features.
What did her voice sound like now? How tall was she? When I saw her again, would she look at me with those same sweet eyes and call out to me with that gentle voice?
I didn’t know.
Memories wove together in my mind, finally settling on a single image–a photo Philip had shown me.
It was a picture of Sylvia, bearing the marks of abuse.
I vividly remembered the scars, each one a glaring testament to her suffering.
My fists clenched as my nails dug into my palms, the sharp pain pulling me back to reality.
Wait for me, Sylvia. My dear sister, I would come for you soon.
A bitter taste rose in my throat, and my heart burned with fury.
Everything was going according to plan.
Outwardly, my composure remained unbroken. Although I was roiling inside, no trace of it showed on my face.

Cadell seemed oblivious to any shift in my demeanor. In fact, he trusted me enough to ask for help ploking out his clothes.
Since he was going to meet Charles, it was only fitting to dress sharply. If Charles saw him looking presentable and healthy, he might reconsider and have a change of heart.
I chose a well–tailored suit for him, which Cadell seemed quite pleased with.
Once he was dressed, we headed together to Charles’s residence.
When we arrived, Charles looked puzzled to see Cadell. His gaze flickered between us, full of suspicion.
I pretended not to notice and calmly sat down beside Cadell.
Cadell changed his usual attitude. Instead of arguing with Charles, he humbly admitted his mistake and
apologized.
Seeing him display such humility, Charles couldn’t help but soften. After all, Charles had raised him
personally.
I watched as Charles’s expression grew gentler. Then he personally helped Cadell to a seat by his side and kindly asked how his injuries were healing.
Cadell breathed a sigh of relief and then gently conversed with Charles, successfully putting him at ease.
A moment later, Charles turned his gaze to me and couldn’t help but ask Cadell, “What’s really going on
between you and Aurora?”
When Charles mentioned me, Cadell’s expression softened slightly. He then admitted truthfully, “Grandpa, Ive
thought it through. I want to marry Aurora”
Hearing those words, Charles’s expression immediately shifted. He frowned deeply and said, “Do you even understand what you’re saying?”
I understood Charles’s concerns. After all, the conflicts between Cadell and me had once tarnished the
Hartman family’s reputation and tore apart any semblance of past harmony.
Charles also knew that I came from a well–off family, not the type to willingly suffer for Cadell’s status. This
made my return to his side all the more suspicious
I didn’t offer an explanation. Despite having a thousand ways to ease his doubts, I chose not to.
What I wanted was to keep him suspicious.
Cadell tried hard to defend me. “Aurora is a wonderful woman. We’ve been together for seven years. I made a mistake because I was deceived by Lorna, but I’ve corrected it. Aurora has been waiting for me all along, so… I want to get back with her.”
Cadell looked earnestly at Charles. Grandpa, isn’t this what you’ve always hoped for?”
I couldn’t help but smile faintly. I finally understood why Cadell had started paying attention to me in the first place–Cadell was really acting under Charles‘ influence.
Hearing Cadell’s words, Charles frowned even more deeply. His gaze fixed on me, as if trying to see through any facade I might have.
I deliberately revealed a slight c***k in my demeanor, avoiding his eyes as if too timid to meet his gaze.
