Chapter 98 Turning Me Over to Philip
My breath caught in my throat as I glared icily at Lorna.
The venom in her eyes was glaringly obvious, like a predator sizing up its prey. She was already schéming. her mind racing with ways to take her fury out on me.
Unfortunately for her, she was headed straight for a crushing disappointment.
Since Cadell had made up his mind to trade me like some prized possession, he would never allow any marks
to be left on me.
Sure enough, with Lorna’s face plastered with a smug, victorious grin, Cadell spoke up.
His voice wavered slightly, betraying his unease. “Lorna, I can’t agree to that condition.”
Lorna’s face went rigid, her eyes bulging in shock as she stared at Cadell. “What did you say? Cadell… Aurora is just a criminal. You don’t even want her to suffer a little? And you still claim you don’t love her?!”
Cadell’s patience was wearing thin, his irritation bubbling to the surface. “Lorna, how many times do I have to tell you? I don’t have any feelings left for Aurora!”
Seeing his irritation, Lorna reluctantly closed her mouth.
After a moment, she whined, her voice dripping with a mix of hurt and frustration. “I’m just scared… I’m afraid she’ll take you away from me, Cadell. You know how important you are to me.”
Important, indeed.
I scoffed silently, my thoughts dripping with sarcasm. Without Cadell, Lorna would never have the chance to marry into wealth and fulfill her desperate climb up the social ladder.
But alas, Cadell, blinded by his own inflated ego, couldn’t see through her words. He truly believed Lorna
loved him for who he was.
My eyes brimmed with sarcasm. Don’t worry, it won’t be long before the thin veneer of their so–called romance
crumbles.
The Hartman family will be torn down from the inside out by my own hands, and they’ll end up behind bars.
Lorna’s dream of climbing the social ladder is doomed. I can’t wait to see if her so–called “true love” will still
stand when the chips are down once the Hartman family loses all its value.
Just thinking about it makes me laugh
Cadell spoke calmly, trying to reason with Lorna. “Lorna, I’m not letting you hurt her because I don’t want any marks on her. I’m planning to pass her off to someone else. With Aurora’s looks, she might just be the key to pulling the Hartman family out of this mess.”
At his explanation, Lorna’s eyes lit up with a malicious gleam. She scanned me from head to toe, her gaze dripping with malice, before turning to Cadell with a smirk. “Cadell, have you decided who you’re going to give her to?” she asked, her voice laced with scheming intent.
Cadell hesitated for a moment, his brow furrowed, as if still weighing his options.
Lorna, impatient as ever, cut in. “Cadell, let me make a suggestion,” she said eagerly.

Cadell nodded. “Go on.”
Lorna shot me a venomous look, her lips curling into a wicked grin, then spoke slowly, each word laced with
venom. “Didn’t you tell me before that Mr. Hodge is quite fond of her? Why not gift her to him?”
The moment those words left her mouth, I choked back a laugh!
I had never found Lorna so ironically agreeable before!
What a perfect little helper I had chosen!
She was doing my work for me!
At Lorna’s suggestion, a shadow of doubt flickered across Cadell’s face. He hesitated before speaking, his voice tinged with reluctance. “Grandfather thought the same, but Lorna, you don’t understand. Philip is a s******c man. He enjoys tormenting people. If Aurora ends up in his hands, who knows what might happen to
her…”
Hearing this, I couldn’t help but find it amusing.
Could it be that even now, Cadell still had a flicker of compassion for me?
He had already decided to treat me like a commodity, yet here he was, still putting on this act of care. How
hypocritical!
Lorna, on the other hand, wasn’t laughing. Her expression darkened as her eyes lingered on me. I knew her
well–she was undoubtedly calculating that Cadell’s reluctance to send me away meant there was a chance
he might rekindle his feelings for me.
And with Lorna’s personality, she would never let that happen. Not in a million years.
True to form, she snapped, “Cadell, have you forgotten what Aurora did to us? She went out of her way to sow
discord between us, manipulating you at every turn, even leaked critical business secrets. And when
Grandfather punished you for it, did she show even a shred of concern for you?”
“Besides, Cadell, you know she sold her shares to Cyril behind your back. Because of that, Cyril’s influence in the Hartman family is now higher than yours! She nearly cost you your inheritance and your future. How can
you still spare her any thought?”
Lorna’s words were sharp, cutting through Cadell’s hesitation like a knife, leaving no room for doubt.
Her words hit their mark. Cadell’s gaze hardened, his jaw tightening with resolve as he seemed to recall all
the wrongs I had done. “You’re right. I’ve been too lenient. I’ll go tell Grandfather right now and have her sent
to Philip without delay.”
Not wanting to dampen his enthusiasm, I flashed a well–timed, feigned look of fear.
Sure enough, the moment he saw my expression, Cadell’s resolve hardened even further. He glared at me, his tone dripping with malice. “Aurora, just you wait. Your cushy days are over. Once you’re in Philip’s hands, you’ll finally understand just how good I’ve been to you!”
Lorna squirmed a little at his words. She quickly urged Cadell, “Let’s hurry. If we drag our feet, Mr. Hodge might snatch up some other plaything, and he’ll lose interest in her. Then all your efforts to win him over would go down the drain.”
Cadell nodded without hesitation, chiming in, “You’re right.”

With that, the two of them left. Before walking out, Lorna tossed me a smug smirk, clearly thrilled at the idea
of controlling my fate.
I stifled a mocking laugh inside. She thought she was calling the shots, but little did she know, everything
was going exactly as I had planned.
Getting played and still grinning like an i***t–no wonder she and Cadell were a perfect match. Two peas in a
clueless pod.
