#Chapter 19 Untamed Tamed
Helen POV
“Justin!” I cried out, but my mate was already running away on swift Lycan feet.
The full moon was necessary for the second portion of the Wolfen Games. I had taken for granted we would be outside for the start of the cycle while Justin was not yet used to being free during the moon’s strongest time.
Alpha King Juden pointed to the sight of the Lycan racing away from his estate toward the nearby town, yelling, See! He’s a wild beast! Completely untamed! This is why I’ve had to keep him locked up. For his own safety. For the safety of all of my people.” Y
Murmurs spread through the wolfen crowd as they all seemed to accept their king’s explanation. I saw several older wolves nodding as if there had been no surprise to them the Lycan was loose.
How dare they assume Justin was a monster? Why? Just because the Alpha King said he was?

“I’ve been alone with him several times without him losing control. He’s just not used to being outside during the full moon. He was kept in chains!” I cried, hoping to at least get through to some of the spectators.
“For good reason!” The Alpha King insisted, glaring at me, ‘Look at him! Here, here are the security cameras from town. Show the feed, Beta Jordan.”
An older man who I determined had to be Randy’s father stepped forward to change the presentation broadcasting onto the stage.
The steen on the stage now showed a bl
ack–and–white security tape of the Lycan in a rage. He was flipping over cars along the street and when one car knocked a streetlight down into his path, Justin simply lifted the light pole and threw it like a javelin.
“Go protect our town!” Alpha King Juden demanded of his guards.
All of the guards changed into their wolves and ran as a pack toward town; I panicked, wanting to run after them, but uncertain if my presence would make the situation better or worse. I kept watching on the screen as the wolves circled Justin.
Wolves are used to fighting in packs. I was worried to see so many wolves surrounding my mate, readying themselves to attack as one unit. Justin looked large in comparison, but was his superior size enough to make up for his lack of a pack?
Several wolves leapt forward and I screamed despite myself. I attracted the attention of my family and a few. wolves – I noticed both Randy and the Beta Jordan looked at me- but most of the crowd remained fixated on the
screen.
They wanted to see the fight, I realized. They wanted to see a real battle.
Some of them probably wanted to see my Lycan bleed.
What would happen to Justin if he were taken down by the Alpha King’s guards? Would they hurt him very badly? Would they kill him?
I wasn’t sure of anything as I watched the guards get swept away from Justin with one swipe of his huge Lycan hand. His claws shred through the door of a car as he lifted the automobile to throw it at the wolves.
When the wolves tried to jump over the car barricade, Justin grabbed them by their throats and shook them before throwing them aside as if they were no more than pups.
The spectators from the Wolfen Games seemed to be excited or frightened, but no one looked indifferent to the

Lycan rampaging his way through their king’s best soldiers I couldn’t figure out why Beta Jordan or Randy were so excited, but they were obviously thrilled to see Justin in action.
I realized it was possible they were grateful he was not crippled after having taken my virginity. This would be the first time since our mating Justin would have transformed for them. They might not have known he still had his beast.
No one looked concerned for Justin which scared me more than anything else could.
I had to get to him!
I didn’t know if Justin would be able to hear me in his Lycan state, but I did know I wouldn’t let my mate be killed before my eyes. He was my second chance. Justin was meant for me the way I was meant for him; I wasn’t going to let the king’s guards take him away from me. 1
Watching Justin throwing the wolves around with ease, I realized the Alpha King would have to do something drastic and soon if he wanted to maintain control of our wolfen society.
Strength was where respect came from among wolves. We wouldn’t tolerate a weak leader. I knew no one would want to follow Alpha King Juden if they had the option of being behind Justin the Last Lycan.
I raced away on foot to get to Justin. I knew Joy, my wolf, could run faster than my feet could, but I didn’t trust Justin to recognize me as a wolf. I knew he would recognize me and my scent immediately if I stayed a woman.
“Justin!” I yelled, my breath coming fast as I pushed my body to go even faster as I approached the entrance to the village.
Some debris littered the road; I had to dodge around it, nicking my calf once on a metal bumper and letting a small trickle of blood roll down my leg. I hoped Justin wouldn’t react to my blood, but there was nothing I could do about the injury now.
“Justin!” I cried again as I crested the hill beside the bakery
Justin was a great Lycan beast in the center of town. I could hardly believe my eyes as I took in the sheer size of him. The wolves surrounding him looked no bigger than pet dogs.
Why had I been afraid they would hurt Justin? I should have been afraid of what Justin would do to them—and what Alpha King Juden would do to Justin in retaliation.
I was trying to decide what to do to gain Justin’s attention when, out of nowhere, the biggest wolf I had ever seen launched itself past me with its fangs bared.
The giant wolf lunged for Justin’s throat, getting his teeth into Justin’s shoulder for a moment before Justin
shook him free.
Justin was left bleeding, but the Lycan only threw his head back and howled his rage into the sky. He grabbed for the great beast of a wolf and I realized this must be the Alpha King. No one else could be anywhere close to the size of this monster wolf.
The last Lycan captured the giant wolf between his huge hands. His ferocious claws sinking through fur to dig into the wolf’s muscles as he shook him so hard I thought they should hear his yelps all the way back at the estate where they watched the battle safely before the stage.
Right before my eyes, the great wolf lost his control on his form and shifted into the Alpha King. He was nothing more than a naked man in the Lycan’s grasp. Blood poured from his wounds in steady streams; I knew Justin would kill him if he wasn’t stopped.
I honestly wasn’t sure he should be stopped.

Juden had kept Justin chained almost his entire life. Locked him in a windowless room and let him go mad every full moon. Beaten him to try to tame his beast and teach him submission.
Oh yes, I could make a case for Alpha King Juden to die rightly by his son’s hands.
I knew the people watching wouldn’t have the same understanding though.
Taking a chance, I raced down to the edge of the circle of felled wolves and called out, “Justin! It’s me! It’s Helen! Your Helen! No, Justin, please don’t!”
Justin dropped the injured king and stepped toward me with his huge hands outstretched, claws still dripping blood.
If I didn’t have nightmares from this experience, it would be a miracle.
The Lycan leaned down, sniffed at my head and blood dripped from his fangs into my hair. I fought hard not to recoil. I wasn’t used to violence or bloodshed.
Justin wasn’t used to any of this though, was he? All his life had been spent in a locked, windowless room where he existed in chains. Why wouldn’t he fight for his freedom? Why wouldn’t he think the king had come to send him back to his chains?
Reaching a hand up, I stroked his Lycan face, searching his eyes for any recognition as I repeated, “Justin? It’s Helen. Do you see me? I’m here for you. Only for you, Justin” 1
I was holding my breath while hoping for the best as the fur on Justin’s face receded, his fangs grew dull as his teeth’shrunk in his mouth, and then he became my mate again.
His shift was almost completely seamless. I had never seen a smoother transition. I’d never seen a transformation so close either.
“Helen,” Justin nodded, reaching for me with his human hands and kissing me with more passion than I thought any one body could contain.
