Winifred frowned, really not getting how people could still believe stuff like this these days.
She refused without a second thought. “He’ll be fine. Just get him inside and let the doctors do their job.”
“Look, kid, we’ll pay you fifteen million dollars. How does that sound? All you have to do is sit at our place for a while and wait until my son wakes up, Diane said, not even trying to hide how superstitious she was.
But she was genuinely afraid that the priest’s words might actually come true. ‘Better safe than sorry, she thought.
Winifred was about to refuse again, but the woman in front of her looked like she was about to kneel. Left with no other choice, Winifred could only
agree.
Doctors and nurses kept coming and going. Winifred watched as Diane, who was clearly a devout believer–living on a vegetarian diet and chanting scriptures–knelt in front of the Jesus statue, praying desperately for Sean.
“Mr. and Mrs. Lecter, your son is out of danger now. He just needs some rest, and he should wake up tomorrow,” the doctor finally said.
At those words, Diane finally breathed a sigh of relief.
“Thank you, Miss. Here’s the fifteen million I promised you. You saved my son’s life. If you ever need anything, just come to the Lecter family,” Diane said, handing over a card.
Winifred took the card. “That’s not necessary. It was the least I could do.”
Sunlight streamed through the hotel room, and Aiden slowly opened his eyes, rubbing his sore waist.
‘What the hell happened? I remember getting drunk last night. And now I’m in a hotel,‘ he thought, trying to piece things together.
Aiden turned to his right and saw that the person lying next to him was none other than Demi.
All of a sudden, a strange surge of anger flared up in his chest. ‘This woman is way out of line, taking advantage of me while I was drunk? How shameless!‘ Aiden thought, his face darkening.
His face flushed with anger, Aiden threw off the covers and tried to get out of bed, but Demi clung to him like a snake.
“Baby, where are you going? What, you’re just gonna bail after having your
fun?” she asked, her voice dripping with mockery.
Demi was absolutely satisfied with him. ‘No wonder I fell for this guy at first sight–he’s totally my type, from his face to that killer body,‘ she thought, her eyes full of appreciation and desire.
Aiden, completely pissed off, shoved her hands off him.
“Demi, you know exactly what happened last night. Move aside–I’m going home now,” he snapped.”
Demi smirked, her fair face full of satisfaction as she let her eyes linger on his body, still savoring every inch of him.
“Mr. Hart, I really gave you my all last night, you know? I’ve never served a man like that before–you’re the first, not even for my own husband,” she said, her voice sultry and teasing.
Demi was completely taken with him now, and she had nothing to hide when it came to him.
Aiden’s eyes widened in shock as he stood up,/his hands trempling as he pointed at her
“What? You have a husband?!” he blurted out.
‘She’s got a husband, and she’s still out here fooling around? Does she have any shame at all?‘ he thought, his disgust intensifying.

He might not be anything special, but he’d never get involved with a married woman or someone with a family.
That was just basic decency.
This woman honestly disgusted him.
Realizing she’d been misunderstood, Demi hurried to explain, “He’s dead! Really, he’s dead! I’m single now, Mr. Hart. If you don’t believe me, you can look into it yourself.”
Hearing this, Aiden finally relaxed and started getting dressed.
“Whatever happened last night is in the past. We don’t owe each other anything now,” he said, keeping his tone firm.
He had no intention of getting involved with her any further.
After all, he’d already spent the night with her–he’d done his part.
As far as he was concerned, it was all settled.
Demi cupped her face in her hands, grinning as she swung her legs playfully. “Sorry, Mr. Hart, but that’s not gonna happen. Didn’t your daughter tell you? Our families are supposed to be tied together by marriage. Marry me! I don’t want anything from you, and I’ll give you everything you could ever want.”
Aiden was fuming.
