Chapter 396
Rowena paused for a second, but answered honestly, “Yeah, he said his name is Sean Lecter. You saved him, and he came to thank you?
As she spoke, she glanced at Winifred’s face. Seeing her calm expression, Rowena asked carefully, “So… what’s your relationship with him?”
“Nothing, really. I just happened to save him, and his family already gave me money as thanks. If he comes by again, just tell him not to waste his time,” Winifred replied flatly.
Hearing that, Rowena smiled and leaned in a little closer. “Alright.”
After Amber started college, she made a bunch of new friends. Claire, feeling a little jealous, sneakily pointed out that Amber was almost forgetting about
her.
Amber put her hands on her hips and huffed, “You’re the one forgetting about me! Claire, ever since you got a boyfriend, you’ve stopped hanging out with me.”
Claire thought about how she’d been all lovey–dovey with her boyfriend lately and realized she really had been neglecting Amber.
She gave an awkward smile and threw her arm around Amber. “Amber, I know I messed up, I know! Why don’t we go get some barbecue tonight?”
Amber shook her head. “Nah, I’m going home.”
Claire looked confused. “Every single day after class, you go straight home. Your sister isn’t due yet, is she? I mean, there’s still like four months to go, right?”
“That’s quite important. I’m not talking to you about this anymore. Bye,” Amber said, waving goodbye.
Amber waved goodbye and waited around for her chauffeur, but he never showed up. Feeling puzzled, she pulled out her phone to call him–just then, a black car pulled up in front of her.
The window rolled down–it was Hudson.
Amber kept her face blank, looked away, and stepped to the side.
Hudson said, “No need to wait. Your chauffeur got a flat tire and can’t make it. Hop in, I’ll take you home. I’m heading over to see your sister anyway.”
Amber shot back coldly, “No, thanks! I’ll get a cab.”
Hudson tapped his fingers on the steering wheel, giving her a half–smile. “Amber, what are you so afraid of? I’m not gonna eat you.”
“Afraid? Me? What’s there to be afraid of? I just don’t like you, get it?” Amber huffed, full of annoyance.
Amber let out a cold snort, her face full of disdain.
“Hey!” Hudson was getting annoyed, gripping the steering wheel tighter. Not a single word out of this girl’s mouth was ever what he wanted to hear.
Just as the two were bickering, a group of people surrounded a g and cheered him on. The boy, blushing furiously, held out a bouquet of roses and confessed his feelings. “Amber, I like you. Will you be my girlfriend?”
Amber froze for a second, still trying to process/what was happening, when suddenly, the guy got sent flying by a kick.
“Hudson, what the hell are you doing? How can you just hit him? Are you insane?” Amber yelled, completely freaked out.
‘Is he nuts or what?‘ she thought, utterly stunned.

Amber shoved Hudson hard. “Hudson, what are you doing? Apologize to my classmate right now!”
Hudson pointed at the pretty boy on the ground, his face livid with anger. “So this is your type?”
Amber’s voice cracked as she yelled, “Who I like is none of your business, Hudson! You psycho, get the hell out of here!”
Hudson flung open the car door, grabbed several thick wads of cash–probably over thirty grand–and threw them right at the guy’s head. “Get lost!”
Then, without another word, he grabbed Amber’s hand and shoved her into the car.
Amber panicked, pounding on the window. “Hudson! You psycho, what do you think you’re doing? Let me out! I don’t want to go with you!”
Hudson quickly got in, locked the doors.
