Chapter 46
“Are you not going to ask your assistant to leave us, or do you prefer she listens?” Irene asked, snapping me out of my thoughts. I still couldn’t believe she was here, in my office.
“What are you doing here, Irene?”
“No, no, no, honey, it’s Mrs. Miller. Don’t forget this is my husband’s company.”
“And so?”
“I’m part owner because everything my husband owns is mine now.” She said, making me roll my eyes, but I was sure she was not here to tell me her husband owned the company, so turning to Noella, I asked her to give us the room.
Noella, after placing my things on the table, left and said to call her if I needed her.
“She’s gone. How can I help you?”
“Is this a joke?”
“Excuse me?”
“Or what, you go to England, buy some fake accent, and you think you can now speak to me anyhow?” She asked, standing up, which made me laugh because she was really insane. “I still have Logan; he’s still as crazy about me as before.”
“I see, good to hear. Now, if that’s all…” I walked to my seat, and moving her, I stood behind it and told her I had work to do, “Unlike you, some of us take pride in work; we love doing our job. Now, if there’s something I can do for Mrs. Miller–what’s funny?” I asked as she started laughing.
She didn’t respond; instead, she just continued laughing, which was now beginning to irritate me. Like, who does that?
“Mrs. Miller.”
“Oh, she’s still saying it again, haha…” She continued with her laugh, and I rolled my eyes as I didn’t really get the joke. “Do you remember the time came to the house, how you told me that you were his wife?”
“And?”
“And that you were Mrs. Miller? That I was just his mistress?” She raised a brow, a smirk on her lips, and that’s when I got what she was trying to say. She was reminding me that she finally got what she wanted, that she was finally Mrs. Miller. “I told you, I will get my man; I am Mrs. Miller now.” She smiled, making me shake my head before reaching for the telephone and dialing Noella.
“Come to the office,” I said, my eyes on Irene, who looked a little confused. Noella got here within seconds, and after knocking, I asked her to come in.
“You called for me, Mrs. Cooper?”
“Yes, is Mr. Jack here?”
“Yes, Mrs. Cooper.”
“Good, tell him I’m ready to see him.”
“Alright, Mrs., anything else?”
“That’s all, thank you.”
“At your service, Mrs. Cooper.” After that, Noella excused herself, and Irene still looked confused, and that’s when I moved from my seat and walked to her; it was like she was suddenly glued to the floor.

I circled her before asking: “Did you hear that? She said at your service, Mrs. Cooper.” I walked back to my seat, and Irene still hadn’t said a word or made any movement. “She said two things, at your service and Mrs. Cooper, but you know what sounded better? At your service?
“W–what are you getting at?”
“What I’m saying is that I prefer being known as somebody, being respected as someone not because of a man but because of what I can achieve. I’m here to do business with your husband, and trust me, if I have to choose between this and being a housewife, I will choose this over and over again.
“Wait, do I look stupid to you?”
“No, you don’t. That’s what startles me, actually, because a woman like you should be running her own company, she shouldn’t be there begging for a
man’s attention.”
“Excuse me? Whose attention-”
“I do know Logan, and you are not the lovey–dovey couple anymore.” I knew this from speaking to Noah.
“Oh, we are not the best now, but rest assured that we still love each other.”
“Which is not important; it’s just love; anyone can get that love.”
“But not with Logan because he only loves me.”
“Which is only vital to you because Logan is not even a real man.”
“What?”
“How sure are you that he’s not seeing someone right now? They say, once a cheater, always a cheater.”
“Oh, hold up, because he cheated on you doesn’t mean ”
“He will cheat on you too? Gosh, you are really stupid; no wonder he lost interest.”
“Wait, did you just call me stupid?”
“I did. What are you going to do about it? Pretend that I pushed you because, trust me, this time, I will really push you, and not only that, but I will also slap your face so hard that you won’t be able to speak for days.”
“Patricia, you forget who you are; you can’t-”
“Oh, I can speak to you however I like, Irene, and if you don’t leave my office now, I will come and drag you out myself.”
“Oh, you wouldn’t dare.”
“Trust me, I will. Now should I or?”
“This is my husband’s company. I can–I’m leaving!” She quickly rushed toward the door as I attempted to walk towards her, but that’s when it opened. Right that time, she hit her head against it, “Ouch!”
“Mrs. Miller, I didn’t see you–I’m so sorry, I-”
“She’s a monster!” she screamed, turning to me as she now held her forehead. Okay, Mr. Jack and I were both confused as to what she was saying. Mr. Jack almost asked her when Logan walked in, and she quickly ran to him. Of course, knowing Logan, he took her in his arms while she started sobbing.
“Logan-” Mr. Jack tried to speak to him, but Logan rudely cut him off.
“It’s Mr. Miller; what’s happening here?” His eyes gazed at me, and I couldn’t help but roll my eyes as history was repeating itself again.
Back when I was Logan’s wife, I went to his company. I wanted to surprise him by bringing him lunch. I didn’t find Irene, as she was Logan’s secretary.

back then, but an assistant led me to his office, saying Logan was in a meeting.
I waited for Logan in the office when Irene caine in. She started insulting me and then doing her tricks as usual. She hit herself on the door, and when Logan walked in, she lied that I hit her. And what did Logan do? Kick me out without hearing me out and then throw the food I made him on me. I was so heartbroken; I think I cried a whole week about it.
“She pushed me against the door; she almost killed me.” Irene lied, making Mr. Jack cover his mouth in shock.
Well, I wasn’t shocked; I knew she was going to do that, so taking my seat, I reached for the telephone, and after dialing in the numbers, I placed it on my ear, my eyes on Logan, whose facial expression I couldn’t read.
