Chapter 51
LOGAN
After the results, I got my phone and called Victoria; I needed her to tell me about Patricia’s birth parents. Well, the last time she made it clear that nothing came for free, so I was prepared to give her any amount, but she refused, demanding something weird and next to impossible.
“You know I divorced her; if anything, she hates me more than she even hates you,” I said, scratching my head, I mean, why did she even want Patricia in her life?
“Then I’m not telling you.”
“Oh come on, Victoria, I can double the amount. How about a million, two-?”
“Patricia is rich now; if I can get her to forgive me, I’ll have millions of dollars every day without needing to blackmail or do dirty deeds for anyone.”
“I know, but you know I can’t do that.”
“I don’t care; get me a job; let me be near her. If you want the details, you are going to do it unless you don’t want her back. Listen, I’ve known her since she was a child, and I know how to manipulate her.”
“Sorry to burst your bubble, but she’s not the same Patricia from years ago; this one is different.”
“It doesn’t matter; I know how to handle her. Now I have the information I thought worthy of your money. Before we continue, I have to know how I’ll benefit, and I promise you, it’s only me who can find Patricia’s real family. Call me back when you’re ready to work together.” She ended the call without waiting for my response, making me curse.
What was I going to do now? Where was I going to start looking?
“Shit.” I grabbed my suit jacket from my chair, and then, fixing my wristwatch, I headed out.
I found my secretary in the reception area; after instructing her to close up, I left, and then in my car, I called my other secretary, the one from the Miller group; she was smarter than this one.
“Mr. Miller, how are you?”
“I want you to find all the information about Patricia when she was living here.”
“Sir, you mean Mrs. Cooper?”
“You know, sometimes I wonder if you actually have a brain or if you mistakenly flushed it down the toilet.”
“I apologize, sir; I will get right at it.”
“I want an update within twenty minutes.”
“Yes, sir.” Without saying anything to her, I ended the call before dialing Victoria’s contact.
“You have a deal for me?”
“Let’s meet for coffee; perhaps my new offer will interest you.”
“Ah, Mr. Miller, you know that doesn’t work on me. I said I want Patricia, not money; she is the money.” Victoria sounded uninterested, and yes, she was right; nothing worked on her; she could never be manipulated, and how did I know this? Well, she had a business, dirty business, hookers, companions, and all sorts of dirty sex exchanges. Now, since Michael owned a club, she needed exposure for her girls, so she worked with him, and I must tell you she is very smart and dangerous.
She was even into drugs and so many illegal activities, like selling classified information to terrorists, so I knew what type of woman she was.

Chapter 51
“I will give you fifty for coming out to have coffee with me.”
“Fifty what? Mil?”
“Thousand, trust me,
this will interest you; we will both get what we want.”
“Fine…” she hesitated, “I’ll send the address; I’m not allowed to be in some restaurants.”
“Good.” Ending the call, I waited for the message of the address to come in before starting the car.
The restaurant was a little outside town, but I didn’t question it; I’m sure she was hiding from one of the clients her girls had stolen from, and it was really not my business.
It took a few minutes to get there, parking; I got out, and after locking the car, I headed in. I spotted her as she waved at me; she was by the garden, and I was heading her way when my phone started ringing.
“Tell me you have good news,” I said as soon as I picked.
“Your ex–wife responded; she doesn’t approve of the DNA.”
“What?” It was my friend from the court.
“Which means you’ll come for a hearing, which is next week.”
“I knew it. What’s her reason?”
“She says it’s uncomfortable and unnecessary as she argues that her son is her husband’s; her husband is also not in agreement. Logan, are you sure he’s your son because they might sue you for emotional distress or defamation if the results are in their favor?”
“I’m positive, so what happens now? Does that mean if the court decides, I won’t know if the boy is mine?”
35
“The court usually orders the DNA even after the hearing because we always like the truth, so there will be a DNA. I’m just afraid because she might sue you if it turns out otherwise although it’s nothing serious but for your image.“`
“It won’t turn out otherwise; the boy is mine, I’m sure.”
“Then why doesn’t she want you in the boy’s life if you’re his father? Oh, you told me, but Logan, I know you better than anyone. Why did you do this?”
“I only did what I thought was best; Irene was more human back then, and I was in love with her.” I rubbed my forehead as I really regretted what I did. I mean, how was I supposed to know Patricia was pregnant and Irene… how was I supposed to know that she was crazy?
“I’m going to be honest, it’s going to be difficult even if the boy turns out to be yours, especially if she brings out the contract, because technically falling pregnant was breaching the contract; she had a valid reason to run.”
“Still she kept him from me. I mean, what did she think would have happened if she told me? Maybe our marriage could even work out; maybe I wouldn’t have to be dealing with Irene now.” I really wished Patricia could have told me.
“There were your rules, Logan, but don’t worry, I will speak to my colleague and explain this part.”
“Keep me updated.”
“Copy that.” Saying goodbye, the call ended, and let out a breath before walking to Victoria.
“For a moment I thought you were calling the police.” She said, shifting in her seat, oh yes, she was also constantly looking over her shoulder; her business was really not a good one.
“Sorry for that, so let’s get straight to the point.”
“I love that you’re the man of business.”

Chapter 51
“Patricia is not a business.”
“Well, I’m getting money, so this is business to me; now my money before anything.”
“Sure,” reaching for my pockets, I got a card that had a hundred thousand on it. “1234, that’s the pin.”
“Good,” she took the card and, slipping it into her purse, cleared her throat and said she was
listening.
“If I win back Patricia, I will make sure she forgives and gives you a second chance.”
“… And you’re sure she will forgive you?” She laughed, “That girl is a billionaire; she’s smarter than we all thought.”
“We have a son, so I’m sure.”
“W–what?!”
“Now, what do you know?”
“Wow, with the son there’s hope. Okay, my sister and her husband were in Maine for a vacation; that’s where–hold on, I have a picture…” She reached into her purse and then brought out a photo. “I believe this is the man who gave her to them; start by finding him.” She said, and I took the photo from her, and looking at it, I easily recognized the man.
“Uncle Jack?!”
