The message really made me weak because what did they mean my parents were not my parents?… That I was adopted? How did that even make sense?
I couldn’t call back the number since it was private, making me realize whoever sent it was very powerful and smart, so searching for Pichard’s contact, pressed the call button.
“Patricia, we are on our way; is everything okay?” He panicked as I was breathing heavily, “Oh my god, Patricia, talk to me, what’s wrong?”
“N–nothing, I… I’m okay.” I said, still taking in deep breaths, I didn’t want to worry him as I knew he was driving. “Could you get us dinner, please?”
“Yes, that was the plan, remember, to get dinner?” He sounded confused; I mean, yes, we already made plans for him to get us dinner, so it was obviously weird that I was asking him to do it again when it was already discussed. “Are you sure you’re okay?” He asked, sounding worried, which made me giggle.
“Yes, just… Just get home, okay? I miss you.” I lied, trying to ease his mind. He didn’t buy it, as I could tell by his tone, but he didn’t push it, as he said he was just a few minutes away. Ending the call, I took another breath before searching for Noah’s contact.
“Cia, so good to hear from you. How are you?”
“I need a favor.”
“Anything, is something wrong?”
“I got a message suggesting otherwise.”
“What message?”
“I might have been… adopted?” I didn’t want to believe it myself.
“Oh.”
“That means the people I thought were my family are not my family; yes, they are gone, but it also means my real family might be out there looking for me.”
“Or they simply gave you up because they didn’t want… I’m just putting all the possibilities, Cia.”
“It doesn’t matter; I need to find my real family. I need to know at least who my real mother is. I mean, what if I was taken from them? What if she was forced to put me there? There’s a lot of reasons, and I want to know why.” I insisted.
I don’t know what I was thinking or why I was suddenly so interested in finding my real family and if this was even real because let’s be honest, anyone can get a private contact and text you anything they want.
I mean, this could be the case, someone just wanting to confuse or give me unnecessary work, and I should just ignore it, but, well, I had my doubts since growing up.
How Aunt Victoria always referred to me as an impostor, who she hated, and if I remember correctly, the time I went to ask for help, she told me I was not her family, but that’s because I thought it was their rival, mom and her never got along, I don’t know why, but now thinking of all this, it makes sense.
“Alright, I will start looking into your family; I will let you know if I find anything.”
“Thank you, Noah. Do you need the phone? Because I want to know who sent me the message.” I said as I knew Noah could track a private number.
“Y–yes, I will… I will come and collect it now.'”
“Oh no, you can’t come now; I will just let you know when, maybe tomorrow. Thank you, Noah.”

Chapter 53
“I will do anything for you, Cia. Can we meet for coffee? I just want to talk.
“I have to go; take care; good night.” I quickly ended the call as I heard a car pull over, and I knew it could only be Richard,
Throwing the phone on the bed, I walked to the window to confirm, and seeing it was them, I quickly rushed down to receive them,
“Honey?” Richard, placing the bags on the table, came to me and took me in his arms; with the sweat, I could tell he rushed to get here. “Are you okay? You sounded weird over the phone.”
“Oh yes, I… I was just missing you.” I said as he pulled away. Yes, I didn’t hug him back.
“Hello, Mommy.” Andreas, who was still holding his backpack, greeted. Of course, he didn’t run for me; I mean, I was still a stranger to him.
“Hi love, how was school?”
“Good, I had a lot of fun.”
“Well, school is for learning and not fun, but it’s good you are blending in,” I said as I playfully pinched his cheeks.
“Alright, I got us Chinese; you are going to love it.”
“Well, I was thinking Italian, but let’s give it a try,” I said as I got Andreas backpack while Richard got the bags of food and went to the kitchen, saying he was going to set the table. “Come on, you can try it,” I said to Andreas, who was slowly walking on the stairs, like children his age run, so I was asking him to at least fasten his steps.
“But Daddy said running in the house is not polite.” He said, still taking small steps–like it took thirty seconds to lift his leg.
“Alright, take your time,” I said, not wanting to make him feel bad even when I knew at the pace he was moving it would take us an hour to get to his
room.
Well, I don’t know where the patient came from; as I waited over fifteen minutes for him to work his way on the steps, he was afraid of falling because they were clear tiles. I made a mental note to change them as I knew it would be an obstacle; I couldn’t afford to be dealing with this every day.
After we got to his room, I helped him freshen up, and when we were done, we got down and had dinner before we started unpacking and settling in.
We also had to clean up even when the house was already clean; we just had to make sure and it took over three hours to get done.
Richard was putting Andreas to bed in his room while I was already in bed going through the documents Florence sent me; it was a contract from one of the brands in London wanting to work with us. Of course, it was supposed to be her choice now, but she didn’t trust her judgment.
“I mean, apart from the free products they are offering, how else does this benefit us? We are giving them clients, international clients; we can’t accept this; it’s either they add or no deal.” I told Florence, and she agreed.
“You’re right, our series reaches millions of screens, not to mention our viewers across the globe.”
“Exactly what I’m saying, so a couple of mugs and plates would do nothing for us. Like, what are we supposed to use the furniture for after the shoot?”
“I don’t know, sell?” She joked, making the both of us laugh, like, what was Shein thinking? A couple of plates and mugs would secure a promotion spot on our channel. Gosh, it’s like they were not informed of who we were. “But what’s our request?”
“Okay, I’m thinking–give me a minute; let me get this,” I said as another call was coming in, it was Noah. “Noah?”
“I found something.”
“You did?”
“Yes, your dad’s name was Young, right?”
“Yes, Daniel Young and Mom, Hazel, what did you find?” I was curious.

“Well, a lot for starters, Victoria, who I believe is your aunt, was Daniel’s first wife.”
“What?!”
“Your mother took him from her; they had an affair, and later he divorced her and married your mother.” He said, making me gasp as I realized the possible reason for their rivalry, but Mom snatching her sister’s husband? That’s not possible; Mom was not such a woman. If anything, she was the sweetest and loved Aunt Victoria so much, so this was confusing.
“Are… are you sure? My mom would…” I chuckled, not wanting to believe it. “She would never do anything to hurt anyone, she couldn’t even hurt a fly
“I am sure, Cia, and if you ask me since your dad divorced your aunt because your mom was carrying his child which I believe is you, I would say she faked her pregnancy and-”
“Then stole me to cover up for her lies.” I cut him off as it made sense; I was afraid Noah was going to agree as I hoped he had another reason, but when! heard him swallow his saliva, my chest tightened.
So the woman I thought was the sweetest and most innocent did this? I mean, this was not only a crime; she betrayed her sister and deceived not only her husband but also me; well, the most painful part was the family she stole me from.
What if I were their only child?
I mean, can you imagine chilling at the beach with your baby and then closing your eyes for a second, and the moment you open them, your baby is gone?
I wasn’t that close to my son, but I won’t bear ever losing him; even the thought of Logan filing for custody made me dizzy. Now imagine losing a child; I mean, what woman would do that to another?
