Chapter 44 – Home–1
–LIA’S POV–

Zane put an arm around me. “Let’s not dwell on this,” he said. “There was a threat and it’s been eliminated. Simple as that.”
“That was a person,” I said softly.
“Who tried to kill you, and was searching for you to complete
the deed.”
I nodded slowly, not knowing what else to say.
“Lia,” Sheila said, “we all wanted to speak to you.”
I glanced at the Hounds.
“We wanted to apologise for the years of torment we put you through. Every single thing we did to annoy you and to hurt you. We’re really sorry for it.”
Wow. Who thought I’d live to see this day? The Hounds apologising to me.
“I am sorry,” Warner said next, surprising me. He was the one who hated me the most. “For stuffing you in a locker. For all the times I have laid a hand on you. I was careful to never harm you, but I know I have frightened you a lot. I am really ashamed, and I promise I will spend the rest of my life trying to make up for it. You are my Luna now, and I hold nothing but admiration, devotion and respect for you. Please forgive me.” He snk to his 4 knees, and my mouth fell open in shock.

The Hounds snickered.
“Finally,” Sheila said, grinning.

“It was just a kiss, alright? It was a moment. That does not mean I love him,” I clarified.
“That’s not possible,” Aaron laughed. “You can’t possibly not catch feelings after kissing the one created for you.”
“Well,” I said, “apparently there’s two people created for me. So I could be in love with either of them.”
Zane scoffed. “You barely even like him.”
“That’s not true.”
“It is and you know it.”
I rolled my eyes. “My arm is aching. I need to go home. My parents must be worried.” I started to get up, but Zane took my hand.
“No, Lia. Not yet.”
I frowned. “Why?”
“Because you’re still hurt. We need to keep you here for at least twenty–four hours to make sure you’re okay. Secondly, we need to be sure your house is safe.”
“I thought the threat is eliminated. You mean my parents might
be in trouble?”

I stared at him. “I want to go home, Zane. What will I tell Mom and Dad?”
“I don’t know, and I don’t really care honestly.”
I bit my tongue. “I do, Zane.”
He sighed, then shook his head. “I can’t let you go.”
I nodded. “So I’m a prisoner here.”
Zane clicked his tongue. “Of course not, love.”
“It sounds like it.”
Zane glanced at his friends. “Leave us.”
Without a word, they all left the room.
He looked at me now. “Do you have to be difficult all the time?”
I gaped at him, narrowing my eyes. “I’m being difficult? I have never been difficult! It’s you who’s always stubborn and obnoxious.”
“I’m obnoxious?” He raised a brow.

“Yes. You are.”
Zane smirked. “Didn’t seem like it when you kissed me.”
I rolled my eyes, starting to get off the bed.

“Alright, alright, wait,” he laughed, sinking to his kneel onto the floor. He took my hands. “Look, my love. I am not trying to keep you here for my entertainment. Or because I want to spend time. with you. Your safety is my top priority. They have seen you; they have watched two werewolves fight desperately for you. They will be looking for you everywhere. If it were up to me, I would make you stay until I’d have sent them all home. But all I ask for is twenty–four hours. Just so the the matter can cool down a little. Just until you heal a bit.”
“I know why you want me to stay, Zane. And you’re right. It’s probably in my best interest to stay here. Surrounded by a pack of werewolves ready to protect me with their lives. But I have parents, and they’re probably worried sick right now. In fact, as far as I know them, they are getting dressed to come search for me. I cannot let them do that when danger might be lurking anywhere. Please let me go home, Zane. They’re my family.”
“What if we brought them here? Or told them you are staying at a friend’s?”
I smiled. “Do you know me at all?”
