Chapter 11

Everyone in New York knew how deeply Amber loved Blake Westwood.

And now she wanted a divorte?

“Are you joking with me? I wouldn’t be surprised if YOU wanted a divorce, but Amber? Don’t you realize how much that girl adores you?”

“Grandma, I don’t want to discuss this. If she comes to you for help, just turn her away.”

“What are you really thinking, Blake?”

Blake turned, his lips curving into a cold smile. “She and I are destined to torture each other for a lifetime.”

His grandmother felt her heart sink with exhaustion. She waved dismissively, “I give up on you. Do whatever you want. Clearly 111 never live to see great-grandchildren.”

Blake entered his study and stared blankly at the documents on his desk. He had an important overseas conference call tonight, but couldn’t muster the energy to open his laptop.

Only when Devon entered, gently reminding him, “Sir, the meeting starts in five minutes,” did Blake finally respond with a grunt and power up his computer.

He’d always been demanding with the overseas teams, but tonight he barely spoke a word, leaving everyone on edge.

After the meeting, several executives even called Devon to nervously ask if headquarters was planning to replace their management.

Devon deflected their concerns, suspecting this had everything to do with Mrs. Westwood.

Instead of resting after the call, Blake went straight out to drink with associates.

In the private lounge, he was surrounded by his inner circle of friends and business partners.

Marcus raised his glass with a smirk. “I heard Amber got caught playing the homewrecker and the wife beat her up. Is that true? Seems like she’s addicted to stealing other women’s husbands.”

Blake’s cold gaze shifted to him. “Where did you hear that?”

Victoria quickly jumped in. “Marcus, I was just venting-don’t twist my words! Amber would never do something like that. It must be a misunderstanding, hough she did get hurt. Blake, did you check on her? Is it serious?”

Seeing Victoria’s concern for Amber, someone sighed.

Vicky, you’re just too damn nice. If I were you, I’d want to throw hands every time I saw her.”

Victoria ignored the comment, keeping her eyes fixed on Blake.

“Have you seen her? How is she?”

“No, I haven’t.”

Victoria couldn’t hide the flicker of pleasure in her eyes, her lips curving subtly upward. “You should at least check on her. You are still husband and wife, after

all.”

“Would you like me to go see her?”

The question prompted a chorus of teasing whistles around the table.

Victoria’s cheeks flushed as she glared at everyone. “God, you guys are ANNOYING! Blake and I have always talked to each other this way. We knew each other before he was even found and brought back to the Westwood family. He helped me out back then.”

This was true-Victoria and Blake had known each other since before his family rediscovered him. But back then, he only had eyes for Amber.

Now though. Amber seemed to be history.

While no one knew exactly what had happened between them, Victoria knew she needed to seize this opportunity.

Blake’s question seemed merely perfunctory-he asked it and then ignored everyone around him.

He stared at his drink, lost in thought, when Marcus reached over and clapped his shoulder.

With his trademark grin, Marcus asked. “Are you finally planning to divorce her? Should we congratulate you in advance for cutting ties with that toxic

woman?”

“Yeah, it’s happening soon.”

Blake seemed detached from the conversation as he leaned back and closed his eyes.

Marcus continued, “She ruined what you had with Victoria. Poor Vicky’s been waiting for you for three years, not dating anyone. If you don’t make it right with her, you’d deserve to be drawn and quartered.”

Blake’s Adam’s apple bobbed silently as he swallowed.
