Chapter 25
Amber felt utterly drained, needing to brace herself against the desk behind her to keep from collapsing.
Her chest ached. When emotions ran this high, it genuinely made her feel sick.
Perhaps noticing her pallor, Blake stopped his cutting remarks and moved to support her.
“Enough. I won’t hold your lying against you, but stop antagonizing Victoria.”
Amber kept one hand on the desk for support while using the other to shove him away forcefully.
Blake stumbled back two steps, his face darkening dangerously.
Amber grabbed her laptop, fighting back tears as she headed for the door, but he yanked her back.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
Amber didn’t want to waste another word on him. She stomped hard on his foot.
The pain made him release her immediately.
Clutching her laptop, she rushed out. As she passed through the downstairs foyer, she saw the group lounging on the sofas.
Someone started taunting her.
“Well, well, if it isn’t the villain of our story. The nerve of you-after putting Sophia in a vegetative state, you still have the audacity to slap people? If Blake wasn’t protecting you, we’d have beaten you to death by now.”
That’s what happens when you come from nothing-no class, no perspective. All you think about is getting into men’s pants, so everyone looks like competition
o you.”
Amber had intended to leave without stopping, but hearing this, she halted and marched straight to the coffee table.
Marcus immediately stood up, positioning himself in front of Victoria, his expression dark.
What do you think you’re doing?”
Amber’s face remained eerily calm. “You said I see everyone as competition, right? Fine. Victoria, swear that you don’t have feelings for Blake. Swear that if you
arbor any inappropriate desires for him, your entire family will rot in hell.”
Marcus’s pupils contracted sharply. He felt the veins in his forehead throbbing and instinctively raised his hand, but caught sight of Blake coming downstairs rom the corner of his eye.
His raised hand froze mid-air before he reluctantly lowered it.
‘Amber, do you HAVE to be this fucking toxic?”
Amber lifted her chin defiantly. “Like you don’t ALL know she has feelings for Blake? Why the charade?”
A young woman stood up-this was Lily Lloyd, Jackson’s sister.
She idolized Victoria, treating her like a personal hero.
“You shameless BITCH! Have you no decency? YOU’RE the homewrecker here! If you hadn’t pulled that stunt at the engagement party, Vicky would have married Blake ages ago! And you have the fucking nerve to say this shit now? I’ve never seen anyone as trashy as you!”
Amber gave a small, bitter laugh, clutching her laptop tightly. “Doesn’t that just prove Victoria and Blake weren’t meant to be?”
Her audacity left everyone speechless. No one knew how to respond to such shamelessness.
From a distance, Blake suddenly laughed.
sering veryone runned silence, Amber took her laptop and headed for the exit.
ntake watched her, his month curving briefly “You’re not afraid of getting your ass kicked, are you?”
With all these prople around, she still dared to say such things
Amber ignored him she thought Blake was mentally disturbed clearly despising her, yet constantly dragging his feet on the divorce,
Impossible to read.
An outsider might even think Blake still loved Amber.
The others couldn’t understand why Blake was suddenly laughing. It was distinctly unsettling.
“Blake, you must find her ridiculous too, right? Where does she get the nerv
To dare speak to them like that, in their faces,
Blake’s eyes still held traces of amusement, His entire presence was commanding-carefree yet intense. No one could ever truly know what he was thinking
He always gave off an impenetrable aura, like a dangerous flower growing in darkness-mysterious, yet irresistibly alluring.
