Chapter 4
The guy handed Auren the key, but Auren’s hands were shaking so bad he couldn’t even hold onto it.
The key hit the floor right at Orielle’s feet.
Auren grabbed her arm.
“Orielle, go! Open the door! Get her out of there! Now!”
Orielle looked freaked out. She didn’t even put her shoes on right and ran over to the freezer door.
She looked back at Auren once, then turned away from him to put the key in the lock.
The second she turned around, I saw this flash of pure hate and satisfaction in her eyes.
Then-*SNAP!*-this sharp crack cut through the air.
Orielle spun back around and dropped to her knees.
“Auren, the key… it broke…”
All the color drained from Auren’s face. He stumbled over to the door, yelling.
“What the fuck?! How does a key just break?! Someone call a locksmith!”
Blood was everywhere now, covering the whole freezer floor. I couldn’t stop moaning from the pain.
“Auren! She still hasn’t said she’s sorry! You said you were gonna teach her some manners, remember? All your buddies are watching…”
“Plus, what about what happened to me in the ICU? You promised you’d make her pay…”
Auren heard that and stopped the guy who was about to get help.
He turned back and started banging on the freezer door.
Now his voice sounded almost desperate.
“Nerissa, just say you’re sorry, alright? Do it for our baby, please?”
“Just admit you screwed up and I’ll get you out right now. You don’t want our kid to get hurt, do you? Come on, Nerissa, what’s it gonna cost you to just back down once?”
I was losing so much blood everything was getting blurry. I collapsed in the pool of blood and looked at him through the glass.
“Auren! Let me out! My dad’s gonna fucking destroy you…”
Orielle gave me this sick little smile that nobody else could see, but she still sounded all weepy and innocent.
“Sweetie, are you losing your mind? Your dad’s been dead for six months. Your family’s been broke for six months! Just apologize already-nobody’s coming to help you!”

Everyone outside started laughing.
“Princess Nerissa, wake up! Your dad’s probably rotting in hell right now! You can’t hurt anybody!”
They were cracking up and pulling on Auren’s shirt.
“Dude, this bitch never learns! I bet she’s totally faking it. The baby’s fine-just leave her ass in there!”
“Yeah, man, after what she did to Orielle, you can’t go soft on her!”
The freezer was completely covered in blood now. They couldn’t see it, but I could feel the baby’s movements getting weaker
and weaker.
I started screaming and wailing.
Auren was pacing back and forth, looking at me like he didn’t know what to do.
“Nerissa, your dad’s not coming to save you. He’s really dead. Just say you’re sorry, okay? Just say ‘I was wrong’ and I’ll let you
out!”.
“Babe, just give up. Your dad’s never coming back!”
The second Auren finished talking, the door exploded open.
A whole team of armed mercenaries burst in.
This deep voice boomed from the doorway:
“Who assholes say her daddy’s not coming to save her?!”
