Chapter 6: Unanticipated

Why am I not surprised that Roman would bully me into becoming his mate. Well, he has no idea what’s in store for him Since he doesn’t know who I am, he won’t know what hit him when I kill him in his sleep, or maybe stab him in the back
I’ll have to rethink my revenge. In my revenge fantasies, I’ve stormed my family’s home, claiming it as mine and slain Sawyer and Roman, proclaiming myself as my father’s daughter, the last remaining true heir and then r’d taken over, living happily
ever after.

Roman’s eyes never leave mine. “Well, I wouldn’t want my mate to think she could escape me in the next couple of days. I really just came to remind the south that the north still holds all the power,” he says arrogantly, and I have to cover my angry laugh with a cough. My brother was the strongest Alpha in the north, and they killed him because of it.

“I’d rather choke than drink anything that YOU give me, Alpha,” I say, my tone acerbic. Then I think about the poison that I’ve gotten ready for tonight
“Don’t you want to stay for dinner, Alpha Alpha William’s pack has worked so hard to prepare a feast for tonight,” I say. trying to sound accommodating
Roman smiles at me. It’s a smile that’s full of challenge, damn the man. “I’m sure I WOULD choke if I ate anything that you gave me to eat, Alpha,” he says, stressing my title.
I’m not an Alpha,” I say softly.
“Are you not?” he asks, watching me closely
“She’s obviously an omega, Alpha Roman. You must be mistaken,” Alpha William says, still trying to protect me
“Do you know, Alpha William, I thought much more highly of you before this visit. How is it possible that a man who has been an Alpha as long as you, doesn’t recognize the Alpha female in front of him?”
Again, Roman’s eyes don’t leave mine, but from the corner of my eye, I see Alpha William look at me. For the first time in my life, I wonder if maybe he does know that I’m an Alpha and he’s truly been hiding me all these years.
“Leave him alone. He took me in, took care of me when no one else did. I’d be dead today if it weren’t for him. If you really

care about me, mate, then that would mean something to you,” I growl.

The arrogance shifts into something warmer. “How very right you are, Samantha Alpha William, I am forever in your debt Ask anything of me and if it’s in my power, I will give it to you.”
I see Alpha William open his mouth, but Roman holds up a hand. “Your request must be something for you, Alpha, not for my mate,” he clarifies, watching me intently, a smirk spreading across his face as if he knew, as I did, that Alpha William would
ask him for my freedom. That’s the kind of Alpha that Alpha William is. He’s the kind of Alpha that my father was, and my brother would have been if he hadn’t been betrayed.
“Any Alpha worth their title would help a defenseless pup that was found on their borders,” he says. I notice that he leaves out the part about me being nearly dead and I wonder again if he has always known that I was an Alpha, if maybe, he knows
who I truly am.
“I completely agree, Alpha William. Well, my mate seems to be agreeable to coming with me, isn’t that right Samantha?” Roman asks me, It’s as if he’s using Alpha William’s own words against me. He saved me when I needed it and now it’s my
tumn to save him when he needs it.
I turn and look at the man who has been a second father to me. “Yes, that’s correct.”
I watch his shoulders slump as if he’s failed me.
“Excellent. Why don’t you go pack your things, I can come with you,” he says
“That won’t be necessary,” I say.
“Hmm, perhaps not, since you know the price that Alpha William will pay if you run from me,” he says.
I step up to him. I probably shouldn’t, but I hate this man with every ounce of my being. “You will never be half the man that Alpha William is. Only bullies use their power like you do,” I growl, before turning on my heal and striding from the room.
When I get to my room, I feel like my world is falling apart around me.
‘We’ll get away from him, Samara. I swear it,‘ Ayla says.
“You know we can’t do that if we don’t kill him, Ayla,‘ I tell her. I know she’ll struggle to kill our mate and without her, I’m not sure that I’d be strong enough. Roman is very, very strong and so is his wolf, Pierce.
I remember when I was young, before I had Ayla, I used to ride Pierce. My brother, Sawyer, and Roman would go out together, into the forest to get away from the adults and other listening ears. Me, being the young Alpha female that I was, would chase after them, searching for them for hours until I finally found them. My brother would scold me, but he’d hold me when I would pass out from exhaustion. Then, when they were ready to return, I had my choice of Pierce or my brother’s wolf, Raye I’m not sure why, but Sawyer never offered to let me ride his wolf. I wouldn’t have accepted anyway. There was always something off about him, like he was always trying to prove he was better than Teddy and Roman since he was a second son of an Alpha, and they are both first sons.
There’s a knock at my door and when it opens, Alpha William comes in, looking around before focusing on me
“You know that I will fight if you don’t want to go,” he says to me.
The thing is, I do know, and I also know that he’ll lose. He must know the same but he’s still willing to fight for me anyway.
“I’m sorry one little omega is causing you so many problems,” I say, watching him. His eyes focus on me and then he goes over to the bed, patting it for me to come sit beside him. When I do, he smiles that fatherly smile at me.
you really think that I don’t know who you are… Samara?” he asks me, and I know my mouth drops open.
“Alpha Roman is right. There’s no wa that an Alpha worth his title wouldn’t know that YOU were an Alpha. And let’s be honest. Did you really think that one little girl with a white wolf could get past my borders every night without me knowing?”

His smile turns sad. “I knew who you were the moment you showed up on my borders. Your father and I were good friends. I sent warriors to see what had happened and I was devastated to learn of his death and that of your family. I knew that whoever killed your family would come for you if they knew you were alive. So I went along with your tale that you were an omega. But I’ve always known who you truly are.”
I throw my arms around the man who has protected me so well, for so long. “Thank you.”
“It was the least that I could do for an old friend and I’m not sure I’ve done it well, since you’re going with your mate against
your will.”
“Not totally against my will. It’s to protect my second father and my pack,” I tell him
He smiles, reaching out to tuck my hair behind my ear. “You are very much like your mother. She would be very proud of you,” he says, looking down before looking back up at me. “So would your father and your brother.” 1
Inod, hugging him again. “Don’t let him know who you are. Not until you’re sure you can trust him, Samara. You’ll have to find a way to let your wolf out without him knowing, because if he sees her..”
“He’ll know, I understand. Thank you again, Alpha, For everything.” I say, standing and putting what little belongings I have in a duffel bag another omega brought me.
“If you ever need a safe place to stay or to live, you are always welcome here, Samara,” he says quietly.
“I hope that one day, I can repay your kindness”
He smiles, before hugging me again and leaving the room.
I look around, making sure I have everything that I need before grabbing my small bag and heading out to the main hall,
ready to face my future and my family’s betrayer.
Ready to get my revenge.
