Chapter 192
“He still doesn’t compare to Karolos.” Torq laughed as he reminded her of how Genevra’s husband was also smitten with the woman. “Bastiano was telling me he took her shopping in Paris and one of the clerks in a shop made a comment about her and,” he drew his finger across his neck.
“Yeah, but did you hear what he said?” Alcee snorted. “He told her a woman with curves like hers has no business trying to fit into couture.” She smirked at Torq, “he made sure she knew he appreciated her curves very much. Did you know he told her he wanted to wait for a baby because he wants her to himself for a while first? She was not expecting him to be such a possessive beast. She said she expected to be knocked up, flat on her back for years but instead he’s showing her the world, taking her everywhere he goes and making sure she knows she is absolutely adored and wanted.”
“He makes me look like a pussy cat.”
“There isn’t a man alive who could make you look like a pussy cat. You put a gun to the doctor’s head when I was pushing because it hurt me.”
“He should have made sure you weren’t in pain.”
“I wanted to deliver her on my own, Torq.” She smiled at the baby looking up at her, “didn’t I baby Aya. Mama wanted to prove she could push that big melon head of yours out.”
“She doesn’t have a big head!” Antero was immediately offended at Alcee’s comment as he came back into the room, panting and out of breath. “She’s perfect. Mama. It’s a perfect head. Right Avalanche?” he asked the dog who made a whining noise as she tried to inch up the bed
Torq’s phone buzzed, and he lifted it up and grinned and showed Alcee the text.
“She is giving him a run for his money.” She shook her head at the text from Kylen to Torq complaining about being stood up for breakfast. Three months after Genevra moved to Greece, Kylen met a woman who was torturing him pitifully. She was only thirty–one to his thirty–eight and he’d met her at a sex club and her nickname for him was Gramps. The week before, he’d found out she was a single mom and the reason she worked where she worked was because it paid far better than the paramedic she trained to be. Now he was trying to convince her she should be his mistress for year, and it included a paycheck, a house down the street from the Lozano house and free education for the four–year old little girl.
The text message Torq showed her was the girl saying she didn’t want to be a whore but if there was a legal arrangement such as marriage, she’d consider it. Alcee loved her already.
Her eyes narrowed on the other message coming into his phone and she rolled her eyes.
“Don’t be like that.” Torq laughed at her expression.

Chapter 192
“It’s kind of hard not to be like that,” she grimaced at him. “Alfio getting mixed up with Lorita and Tank was not on my radar for things to happen this year.”
“I think it’s hilarious the way Mercurio is panicking over it. He’s quite concerned his youngest brother is going to get a bullet to the head.” He smiled as he sent back a coolly worded response back to the request to discuss the compromising situation Torq’s sister was found in with Tank and Alfio. The relationship with the Mariani family was still slow to improve due to Alcee’s inability to let go of the pain they put her through and Torq’s full on support of his wife.
“Lorita kisses two boys,” Antero shook his head in disgust. He leaned close and kissed the baby’s cheek. “My little sister won’t kiss any boys. She’s going to be my best friend forever and I don’t want her to love anyone but me.”
“I think Mercurio feels the same way about his little brother Alfio, Antero. He’s terribly upset to know he’s kissing Tank and Lorita.”
“Wait!” Antero held his hands up and his eyes were wide,” “he kisses boys too?”
“Yes.”
“But he made a face at Bastiano and Raniero and I thought Raniero was going to shoot him. Raniero is very funny until he’s angry and then he’s almost scary like Dad is when Dad is angry.”
“When did you see Dad angry?”
“I saw the video Nonna took of Dad trying to shoot the doctor because you were crying when it hurt to push the baby out. You said I could watch the video of her being born since I couldn’t be in the
room. Someday, I’m going to learn to be scary.”
There was a dark quality to his words and Alce and Torq exchanged long glances when Aya pulled off her nipple to give her brother a satisfactory smirk as if she agreed with him.
“What if she’s a reincarnation of your grandfather or something?” she whispered to Torq.
He made wide eyes, “maybe my grandmother and if that’s the case, then God help us all.”
She looked back down at the baby who glowered one more time, gave a burb she didn’t need patted on the back for and then began rooting again for her meal.
“Ravenous.” Antero said with a smile. “Dad I like our family now. For a long time, I didn’t like it because it always made me feel weird. Now though,” he looked at Aya, “it’s a good family. I never
want to leave it.”
Alcee looked at Torq with a smile and nodded her agreement. She felt exactly the same way.
