Chapter 46
When Mercurio whispered “fuck“, Torq laughed, “indeed.”
“You would be so wealthy as for him to be able to steal five billion dollars from you?”
It wasn’t only Alere who heard the hanger in her father’s tone.
Torq gave him a sneer. “Yes. See, my grandfather allowed me run my own businesses so long as I trained extensively under him for our name. I took the money he gave me and invested it wisely. Oil and a few Saudi collaborations and I do quite well for myself. My father helped himself to my coffers while my back was turned. I made him pay it back, Nobody fucking steals from me, Mariani. Nobody. Corrado has been desperately trying to get it back because he owes a gambling debt he cannot pay without it, but his loss is not mine.”
“Yet he is your father. You would judge me for punishing Alcee for fucking up and losing money when you punish your father for the same thing.”
“Edgardo, would you be open to being put over my desk and fucked roughly?”
The question caused a choking sound to spill from Amal’s throat and as all eyes turned to her she waved her hands frantically in front of her, making apologies. “I apologize. Forget I’m here.” Her bottom lip quivered as if she was struggling not to laugh.
“Bianchi needs to teach his daughters manners.”
glared at her made Amall suddenly pale.
The quiet threat from Edgardo Mariani as he glared at
“Amal,” Tito called out, “come.”
Amal moved as Susana pushed her, realizing she’d drawn attention to herself and now she was putting herself at risk.
Tito pushed her to stand behind him protectively and he looked at Edgardo, “do you have something you would like to say
“She is yours? My youngest son expressed his interest recently”
“I slit his throat myself.”
“Tito,” Alcee shook her head. “Not my youngest brother. Please.”
to my woman?”
“Let’s get back to the question at hand. Mariani, are you willing to be fucked roughly by a man my size over this desk every single day until death do us part?”
“What kind of disgusting game are you playing?”
“The money meant for my wife was to compensate her for a lifetime of exactly this situation. You do not get to put your hands on her money. She did not steal your money the way my father stole mine. She simply denied wanting money which was being offered to her. It was not yours. It was never meant to be yours. Unless you yourself are offering to do the work which was meant to be compensated by the ten–million–dollar fee, then it was not yours and therefore your daughter didn’t deserve the beatings”
“Dad?” Mercurio finally rasped out. “Is this correct? The marriage contract never spoke to the money coming to the family but rather to Alcee
directly?”
Torq opened his desk drawer and pulled out his copy of the agreement and before Edgardo could grab it, Mercurio did and stepped back. “Page three, paragraph eight. The money was never his. I could understand his irritation over the fact she fucked a stranger, or got pregnant out of wedlock or even messed up an arrangement with an allied family, but punishing her for making him lose money which was never earmarked for him? This is not something I can agree was appropriate.”
money was meant to bolster the family but it’s here in black and white.”
Mercurio looked to his father, “you said this mont
“She would not let her family flounder.” Edgardo grunted disinterestedly. “She would be happy to send it along since she’d be living in the lap of
luxury.”
“Were you even going to tell her or simply commandeer it?”
Her father wa
was on his feet, slapping Mercurio across the face for the impertinent question. “How fucking dare you? I am your father and while the man who holds this office,” he sneered, “knows nothing of family piety, you will do well to remember who the fuck brought you into this world and who will take you out of it without a second thought.

Chapter 46
“Shooting your own father isn’t so hard,” Tong called out as Mercurio glared with rage at the humiliation his father served him in front of the men. “I found it quite easy. I know your weapons were taken from you before you entered my office by Tank but if you need yours back, I’m happy to pass it along though I might charge you for the mess which could happen to my floor.”
“I will deal with my family matters in private, Don Lozano,” Mercurio didn’t look away from his father while speaking, a tick at his jaw giving away his rage. “I appreciate the candor but my pride is intact enough I don’t need to beat an old man to feel better about myself.” He finally looked away from his father and nodded at Alcer, “sister, I am sorry. I was not aware of the contents of this agreement. I did not understand he was not only selling your hand in marriage but stealing your dowry. I see here all he was entitled to as the bride price was a hundred thousand dollars. The other was meant for you entirely, I apologize. We will be taking our leave.”
“We are not leaving until I get my money.” Edgardo hissed. “He intends to marry her, so I want the ten million.”
Torq lifted a finger and suddenly four men raised weapons in Edgardo’s direction and the man paled while Mercurio stepped backwards away from him.
Tito pulled the hammer back of his gun, “Don Mariani, I don’t like you. I never did. Every business dealing we’ve ever done with you has made me question whether there was any good left in you at all. I once begged my boss to let me shoot you. I wonder if today, might be the day.” He looked at Torq beseechingly, “please?”
“It won’t.” Mercurio held his hand up. “We are leaving. Again, we apologize.”
“Mercurio, we need this.”
“I prefer to breathe and eat scraps
to die and be eaten by dogs.”
Alree smiled at her brother’s bold comment as he turned on his heel and abandoned their father in the office. When her father furiously strode
after him, all the guns were lowered.
Tank and Kylen left the room to ensure the men left the building quietly and Alcee turned into Torq’s chest and buried her face, wondering how much worse this could have gone.
