Chapter 52
His words shouldn’t have made her want to laugh but they did so she kept her head down and grabbed her bags and took them into the main bedroom and started getting changed out of her work clothes into something more comfortable.
He brought a dog home. A giant dog. One which was going to quadruple in size and probably drool all over her nice new home. She grabbed her phone and sent a message to Susana and Amal.
Akee: They brought a fifty–pound puppy home from school.
Susana: Is this a euphemism for something?
Amal: Are you kidding?
Alcee: A mastiff/dane mix. I came home to my kitchen trashed with suap and water and a soaked kid, a soaked man, and a dog in my sink. There is a dog in my sink.
Susana: What the hell is wrong i
with Torq?
Jamal: Classic overcompensating for missing time with his son
Alcee: Some man at the school was telling Torq the guy who was supposed to take the pup ended up in jail, so Torq felt it was fate.
Amal sent
at her a photo. Alcee zoomed in. It was Tito on the floor getting licked in the mouth by the dog
Amal: Bastiano just sent this to me. He must have been waiting until you know because I would have warned you. Tito is not putting his tongue In my mouth if he’s letting other bitches do it.
Susana: You want him to put his tongue in your mouth?
Amal: Did you see him? I want it in my mouth and everywhere else but I’m going to make him work for it. I like it when they grovel. BRB checking to see if there is mouthwash with alcohol in my medicine cabinet.
Alcee sent her a series of laughing emojis.
Susana: Check my bathroom. I bought two bottles when they were on sale.
Alore: Where are you? Check your own bathroom.
Susana: Went with mom to her nail appointment. I’m getting a pedicure.
She sent a photo of her feet sitting in a swirling steaming container of water.
Alcee grimaced at the sight and pouted
Alcee: I want one of those.
Amal: Same.
Alcee: The closest I’m getting tonight is if I go walk through an inch of water in my kitchen and get dog hair between my toes
At the puking emojis she grinned and then tossed her phone onto the bed as she pulled her t–shirt over her head and threw it into the hamper in
the corner of the room.
“Oh,” Torq cleared his throat as he entered the bedroom. “I didn’t realize you were changing”
“I was crawling on dirty office floors all day. I don’t like to wear my work clothes around the house.”
“Smart,” he tentatively walked towards her. “Antero and Avalanche are in his room and he’s drying her off”
“Avalanche?”
“She tumbled down the stairs at the school and Antero said she was like an Avalanche, and it stuck.” He watched her pull a clean shirt over her head, “are you really angry?”
