The club was empty of any witnesses by now. The only ones here were me, Nora, Darian, and his royal guards.

If they killed us, nobody would know.

Darian took a visibly deep breath, he took a step closer so I took one back but I immediately hit the doorframe and though he scared the shit out of me, I still forced my chin to stay up.

“Such a strong girl,” his calm voice put me on edge. He circled his fingers in my ponytail and it fell from his hand when he gently pulled it back.

“Where did he go?” He asked.

“I don’t know,” my voice trembled and I cursed myself for it.

Darian bit down and his jaw clenched. His eyes narrowed and they were shifting in color like he was having trouble controlling himself.

“This isn’t a game, puppet. Tell me where he went,” he seethed.

I lifted my shoulders and turned my head an inch to look down the hallway.

“Why don’t you just sniff him out?” I asked with a bite to my tone that he picked up on. His eyes swirled with that deep depth of darkness that you didn’t want to look into for too long out of fear of drowning in it.

He scoffed and lowered his voice an octave.

“Leave with Nora. The guards will take you home and you will keep your ass stationed in the bedroom until I’m back, is that clear?”

He was going after Zade but something wasn’t right, he should’ve left the second that he saw that Zade was gone.

I guess I shouldn’t question it, I should just be grateful that he got away.

Darian grabbed my chin and pulled me in so I stood on my toes and his hand was on the small of my back.

“Answer me.”

“Yes, I understand,” I forced out.

He dropped me and walked down the hallway. A group of his guards followed behind him and me and Nora walked toward the door while eyeing each other cautiously.

I was back in the bedroom and the guard locked the door when he left. I guess Darian doesn’t trust that I will stay.

There was nothing I could do except wait for Darian to return, and take the wrath of the Lycan King, I wonder if it’s any different than what I’ve experienced so far.

The room was big enough to pace around about four times and have it feel like a small walk in an indoor park but all I did was wait for that unsettling noise of the lock being turned and Darian letting me know he was back.

My hair was a mess still in the ponytail but with pieces sticking out on the top of my head. My feet had blisters from the high heels that I refused to take off and my dress hung airy on my body.

I looked at my reflection and decided to stop walking around and take a moment to calm my nerves.

I watched myself and appreciated what I saw at first but it didn’t take many seconds before a feeling of disgust washed over me and I felt shameful. Zade and I kissed, I’m mated to another man and yet I kissed him. Once Darian finds him he’s dead and there will be no one who can help me.

Chapter 101

Why didn’t I take him up on his offer?

The shame and disgust were joined by regret in a heartbeat and I shook my head while undoing the painful ponytail.

My hair fell down my shoulders and I raked a hand through it while I exhaled a deep breath and closed my eyes for a brief moment.

“Stupid me,” I said. When I opened my eyes my heart jumped up into my throat and I clutched my chest.

In the reflection, standing behind me was Zade.

I turned around, refusing to believe that he was actually in the room, and the blood flushed to my face and my hands were shaking.

“You’re here,” I said and ran over to him.

I circled my arms around his neck, happy as hell to see him alive and breathing but that only lasted for a second because then a million questions passed through my mind at once.

“If this is the greeting I get I should disappear more often,” he joked.

“Darian is out looking for you. How-” I stopped, unsure of how to continue. Something wasn’t right. Darian should’ve found him long ago.

“You’re suspicious,” he said.

“You would be too if you knew what I know,” I said and stepped back, letting my hands fall to my sides.

“Don’t be scared of me, I promise that I don’t want to hurt you. You can trust me,”

Trust isn’t just a pretty word, it needs to be earned and it’s not a luxury I can afford right now.

“You said you could help me,” My heart picked up and a joyful warmth spread down my arms.

“I can and I will but not tonight I’m afraid. He’s on his way home,” Zade stepped closer and cupped my cheek. A grin tugged on his lips and I couldn’t help but let my eyes fall on them for a moment “If he tries anything when he gets back, mention Kiera,”

“Who’s Kiera?”

“Darian knows and you will be safe, at least for the moment. I promise you that I’ll be back and when I do, he’ll be out of your life for good,”
