Chapter 122
Zade led me down a second hallway and a stone-covered pathway until we reached a spiral staircase. We followed it all the way down until the smell of decay seeped up my nose and rats stood gnawing on bones in the corners- I realized that we were in the Council’s dungeon.
I stared at his back when he opened a door and his emotionless expression did little to ease my nerves, especially when he refused to say a word about where he was taking me.
Sewer water leaked from the pipes in the ceiling and we walked in puddles past the empty cells. All cells but one stood open and the metal on the one ahead was different, the bars were thick but a few of them were dented and bent.
“Come on,” Zade let me walk ahead and gestured for me to hurry.
He’s in a rush but he can’t tell me why- then don’t rush me. I rolled my eyes and hurried ahead but I was wary of everything around us, especially the nasty- looking sewer rats who were to fat and furry for my liking, it meant that they had lots to eat down here. After seeing a sixth rat I just had to look away but luckily we had arrived.
We stopped in front of the dented cell and I gasped; Darian sat against the wall with his arms resting on his raised knees. His head hung and there was blood all around him on the concrete floor.
I looked closer at the bars and saw a remanence of skin and flesh from where he must’ve held but what had they done to make it burn his skin off?
I reached out, about to touch the bars when- before I could blink- my wrist was forcefully held in the air inches away from the iron and Darian stood in front of me.
“Don’t,” he growled.
Our eyes locked, and his fingers slowly released their tight grip but he didn’t remove his hand. He watched me like he hadn’t seen me in forever- like he hadn’t seen me ever.
The way he looked at me was different from how he used to watch me- I was a game to him, a means to an end and it showed in his eyes but now, standing close enough to feel his heat and be gently touched by him, that all faded into the back of my mind. Not forgotten but dimmed.
He had a cut on his eyebrow and dried blood trailing down his jaw. His eyes were dark and menacing but not threatening like they had been for the longest
time.
There was something about seeing him weak that made me realize he never actually was; after what they had subjected him to, he still stood tall and refused to break.
A werewolf would’ve cowered under the pain they must’ve caused him to create those wounds on a Lycan, they were close to indestructible and yet he had several open flesh wounds.
My hand slid through his and fell to my side while he looked down at me.
“Isn’t this nice,” Zade snaked a hand around my waist and pulled me back against him. The second I lost the heat from Darian my mind railed back to reality and to what he had done- who he was.
Zade held me back and I felt more of him than I would’ve liked but I could tell that he loved to mess with Darian when he couldn’t be reached.
The puddles of blood around Darian’s feet splattered when he took slow steps back into the cell with a bowed head and obsidian eyes locked on Zade.
“I can see in her head everything you did to her. The Bells, the playroom,” Zade pulled the waistband of my pants and slid his hand under the stretched fabric. My skin heated under his touch when he dragged his fingers over the mark on my hip. “The many scars you put on her body, all for the sake of possession when you couldn’t say with words what so desperately wants to come out,”
I furrowed my brows and looked at Darian’s contorted expression but he was watching Zade, not me.
“No man would ever put his mark over a Lycans. You bound her to you in the most intimate ways, only to rip her heart out and pull it to shreds,”
A growl rumbled from Darian’s chest and his canniness extended.

Chapter 122
The memories were filtering back one by one, the pictures and sounds of everything he did. Every word and every touch, every time he fucked one of his Bells or marked me out of sheer dominance. I remember the look in his eyes when I submitted, he knew then that I was broken enough for him to win the
game.
He took everything he could from me and bent it to his will- used it for his pleasure, I don’t believe that it was all part of the game, he enjoyed breaking
Darian’s eyes were glowing as they watched Zade’s face shift into a joyful expression of pride and success.
“It’s so easy to get her to hate you, all I have to do is tell the truth and here we are, a minefield of loathsome memories and pain,” he moved my hair over my shoulder and graced his fingers over the mark on my neck.
Zade leaned down, I felt his breaths on my neck and the skin around the mark tingled when he brushed his lips over it.
“What he did to your family…” he said and pressed his lips against my mark.
I closed my eyes without thinking, the sensation of pressure against something so sensitive, and the heat of his lips lingering on my skin.
“…to your mother,” Zade whispered huskily.
Control your thoughts, Hazel, see them in the house, their bodies. Relive it…
“Your dad dead in his chair,” his tongue moved over the mark when he pressed another kiss on my neck and my head fell to the side.
“Your sister, in her bed, young and innocent with her whole life in front of her,”
He rested his hand on my hip and took something out of his pocket. I looked at the key he held in his hand and furrowed my brows.
“Do you still want to save him?” He asked coldly.
