Chapter 142

Darian was heading toward Mr. Light and Nate, the Elder had created distance from them to keep his ass safe for the moment. He locked in on them, everyone knew what they had done, and they knew it was over, but before he could reap his vengeance the door burst open and the Dark Guards ran in. Their eyes glowed and there was a moment of subtle hesitation that they weren’t supposed to have a sprinkle of fear, the Dark Guards had been taught not to fear a single thing but I doubt their training prepared them to fight a Lycan King.

Darian turned his head and watched the Guards run up to him, some drew their blades and others extended their claws as they growled and lunged through

the air.

The Elder and Mr. Light knew that if the guards didn’t kill him, they were next. Finally, I saw a tremble of fear in the Elder’s eyes and I loved it, he knew now how badly he’d fucked up when he forced Darian to play his game and then locked him up in hopes that he would somehow be able to kill him.

Gabe didn’t join Darian, he stood by me the entire time and his hand flew out every now and then in front of me. Though there was a clear itch in his legs, he wanted to join, he wanted to fight. He was antsy and bouncing on his feet next to me- practically drooling as he looked at the blood.

Gabe’s eyes flickered over the Guards that Daria took out one by one- a guard’s head flew across the floor and another lost an arm.

He was merciless, going through them like they were nothing, and their bodies scattered on the checkered tiles that were starting to look red and grey instead of white.

I looked at the piles of bodies that were forming and realized that it would never end, they would keep coming in here thinking they were protecting the Council and Valeria but all they were doing was giving their lives so the Elder and his Councilmen could live for a few minutes longer.

Darian wasn’t tired, he was barely breaking a sweat while pummeling them down one after the other.

I knew that he was strong, the strongest in fact, but seeing him in action on a level I didn’t think possible confirmed how right everyone was to fear him.

Darian broke another Guards’ nose and when he bent down to snap his neck a knife slashed in his direction and caught the hanging pieces of his shirt. The blade hooked what was left of the shirt and the Guard pulled, ripping the shirt completely without having scraped any skin cells off.

“Huh, they suck,” Gabe remarked with a deep disappointment.

Gabe was waiting for something that never came. A fight. An opponent that would make things interesting.

For me it was unthinkable to see someone as strong as Darian fight him, that would mean the end of our world.

But then again there is someone as strong as him, almost at least. Gabriel’s lips pulled back in a manic grin and his eyes narrowed like he was a warrior about to tap out Darian and take over but he didn’t, Darian didn’t stop just because Gabriel joined.

Shit.

Never in my life had I seen so many dead bodies and they weren’t old Guards that I could imagine had lived a long life before this, they were young members of the Dark Guard, a tight circle of people who had never known happiness.

Everything good in them was beaten out when they were kids and those who joined willingly as adults had to undergo extreme disciplinarian training to prepare themselves for what the others had done almost since they were born.

I didn’t know if I should join in or just continue standing here- feeling useless and like a coward.

Abby was in the background, keeping her eyes on Kiera the entire time to make sure she was safe and ripping into anyone who dared come too close. Her white lace was stained crimson and next to her feet were the bodies of the Guards who tried to get to Kiera.

Ophelia was shaking Kiera’s shoulders- tapping her thrice on her arm and screaming bloody murder trying to get her attention.

But the girl stood like a statue humming her song and covering her ears with closed eyes..

I had no idea how he did it but Kiera was listening to Darian. No matter what her mother did to break her out of it.

Good girl.

Chapter 142

When Gabriel joined the fight it was like rewriting history with blood instead of ink on the skin of the dead instead of paper.

Even the devil would flinch if he saw this.

“He’s seen worse, trust me. This wouldn’t even land in the top five,”

Here I was questioning whether or not I should be joining the blood bath and now I had my answer. I should’ve joined, the worst thing that could’ve happened was that I got killed but at least then I would be far away from him.

“That hurts my feelings, you shouldn’t be mean to me, I have connections that would put your precious Lycan to shame,” Zade grinned.
