Chapter 145

A scream rippled from deep in my core and carried my pain when it felt like everything inside of me was being twisted like a rope.

I raised my hand, the taste of metal filled my mouth and the blood was dripping down my chin.

My claws extended and Trixy snarled, saliva dripped from the side of her mouth and she dug her claws into the floor bank of my mind..

My fist connected with her perfect nose and it cracked to the side as a stream of blood poured down over her lips.

She grabbed my hand, her claws ripping at my skin when she pulled them out and I held my breath when all I did was breathe blood into my lungs.

I felt the warmth of her flesh when I clawed at her shoulder and again when I stabbed them into her neck- but it was too far down, a little higher and it’ll be fatal. White dots were forming in my vision and my balance was faltering like I was drunk.

God, a bottle or five would sit so good right now.

Her porcelain skin was stained with patterns formed of blood and her teeth looked like they’d just taken a bite out of a deer heart.

I narrowed my eyes to keep my balance- it was right there, the spot below her jawline, just above her shoulder, centered and perfect for a quick kill.

My teeth ground to dust but it helped me focus and I slashed my claws through the air but something started burning- it wasn’t a fire that touched my skin but rather a shooting pain that felt like burning coal on my scalp and in the next moment I was being ripped of Ophelia and flung across the room.

My body rolled into the wall and as soon as I was still I immediately grabbed my hair and cursed the pain.

Who did that? Someone just threw me by my fucking hair. I looked up, my vision sparkling like a thousand stars on the sky exploding at once but through the haze, I saw Mr. Light helping Ophelia while she pouted and batted her eyes like a true helpless victim. Mr. Light, getting a boner from seeing his helpless lady, pulled her in and wiped the blood from her nose with a handkerchief. I looked as he pinched her nose and listened to the vomit-inducing lines, “Take a deep breath, my love. This will sting,”

She whimpered in his arms and closed her eyes.

Suddenly I wish that she would’ve just killed me.

He cracked her nose into place and it would be healed up within the hour. Bones took a little longer to heal than flesh woods but they weren’t a big deal- seriously, most pups break their nose for the first time when they’re ten. Ophelia was overly dramatic, letting Mr. Light’s ego grow while he acted as the hero. God, I hated her guts- more than it should be possible to hate a person. She whimpered and pouted while her daughter stood alone humming her favorite song, drawing flowers, and living on the last of her innocence. Mr. Light turned his head- I wouldn’t mind getting in a good shot at him too but that might just be the last thing I do.

Though it could be a poetic way to go, kill Ophelia and her guard dog, and then it’s lights out. As long as I took them with me.

“Such dire thoughts in such a pretty pretty head,” Zade squatted down next to me. He looked at my head where Mr. Light had given me a bald spot and shook his head, “tsk, tsk, tsk,” he clicked his tongue and his eyes shone with that devil’s glint. Or was it a demon’s glint?

If that was a demon, then what the hell was the devil?

Never mind, I don’t want to know, I’m not in a position to play with my life. Everyone else seemingly had dibs on that.
