Chapter 90
It’s been three days since I ran away from here and Darian brought me back. Three days since he slaughtered my family and three days since he put me on a literal leash. The marks from the leash took hours before it healed and the day after, I found that the door was locked and I couldn’t get out. On day two, the door was unlocked but I couldn’t find anyone, no one I wanted to talk to at least. It seemed like both Elise and Nora were avoiding me for some reason but of course, Mrs. Smith was close by at all times shedding a comforting black fog over an otherwise not very sunny day. At first, I was worried that Nora had been punished, or worse, for having talked to me but then I saw two guards walking out of a bedroom while buttoning their uniforms and realized that there must be a Belle present in the palace.
Darian came back at night to sleep for about three hours before he was at it again- so at least I didn’t have to see him an awful lot for which I was grateful.
These days had been valuable in planning for my next trip, this time I was going somewhere that not even the King himself would dare storm to bring me back from.
The Council was the only hope I had and I needed to try my luck with them, they were the only ones strong enough to take on the king but would they help me destroy him? Maybe if I make it sound like he isn’t fit to be a ruler they can dethrone him or something.
One way or another, I was going to make him pay.
After spending hours inside the palace I was desperate for air and sun so I decided on a walk.
I took my bag with my phone, it was all I had and all I needed as I headed outside.
Just as I made my way through the palace and towards the doors where the car would be waiting for me, I heard someone from around the corner.
“Psst- PSST!”
I turned to see who was there but it was dark and the person was hiding.
The options weren’t many, not a lot of people in this place were rushing to speak to me so I walked over to see who it was.
I knew it was either Elise, Nora, or Gabe but I wasn’t holding my breath for the third one.
“Nora?” I said and when I saw her pressed back against the wall with her finger pressed against her lips.
“I’m not allowed to talk to you,” she said through a smirk.
Her wavy hair fell down her front and I noticed the sparkly corset that accentuated her breast and pulled in her waist.
She handed me a piece of paper that smelled like something you’d find between a warrior’s toes.
“What is this?” I grimaced and held it away from my nose.
“I didn’t want my scent to stick on it or he’d know that I was the one who gave it to you. Read it and be ready,” she winked.
I was about to ask the other ten questions on my mind but she was swift like a cat and walked away from the corner in the blink of an eye.
Once she stepped out into the light I could see that she wore a matching skirt that fell just below her ass,
She strutted across the foyer and turned down the hallway that led to Darian’s office.
I don’t know why it stung- he was nothing to me, a monster whose mark I’d have to learn to live with but there was no love between us. Maybe there could’ve been, maybe there was part of me that felt at home in the darkest parts of his soul, but touching it would mean giving up my own soul and I had already lost everything else, I couldn’t afford to lose that as well.
Maybe it was the fact that he took my family, my freedom, and my body but that wasn’t enough for him. He still needed Nora, the Bells, maybe they did things that I didn’t know how.
I twirled the paper in my hands and hurried out to the car. While the driver started up the engine and drove away from the palace, I read Nora’s note.

Chapter 90
‘Fight pm, dress hot
I tore the paper to pieces and tossed it out the window.
“Fresh air,” I said when the driver looked at me to see why I lowered the window. He grunted and went back to minding his own business. Her words were etched in my mind and I smiled the rest of the car ride.
The driver drove me into the Capital and dropped me off on a sidewalk before he disappeared into the busy street. The Lycan pack consisted of several small towns and the Capital, it was gigantic but somehow the Lycan King, my anything-but-loving-mate, managed to be a leader to all of it.
Standing alone on the street I realized that I could go anywhere within the borders. I had planned to go for a walk but after Nora’s note I had a better idea.
I searched the streets for the perfect boutique. My card was still in my phone and it would still work so I was going to buy myself something hot.
I had no idea where we were going or what the dress code was but I was hoping there would be alcohol, because if I’m sneaking out of the palace with the girl who’s been warned to stay away from me, then I’m sure as hell getting wasted. I want to not care for a moment, for everything to just shut up in my head and for the memories to die the only way I knew how to do that was to drown them.
The bell rang over the door and I stepped inside a busy shop. My eyes immediately landed on the skimpiest dress Id ever seen and the first word that came to mind was ‘hot’.
