Chapter 99

Nora eventually gave in and stepped aside so that Zade could come through. I think his charm won her over or maybe it was the knowledge that everyone in here was a werewolf that would pounce in a second if he started anything.

She walked over to the bar and ordered a drink but not before threatening to cut his dick off if he tried anything on me.

“She’s charming,” he said when she left us.

“Yeah, I’m starting to think that maybe she is,” I watched her and smiled when I saw the warning glare she shot at Zade’s back from over by the bar.

I think that a part of me has been on the fence about Nora, especially considering what she does for a living- or rather who she does.

Her job is to sleep with my mate, which does cause friction in a potential friendship.

“She doesn’t like him,” Zade said as if he’d read my mind.

I turned my head and shot him a worried glance that he just brushed off as if it were nothing.

“Do you hear my thoughts?” I figured I might as well ask him outright, what’s the worst thing that could happen?

“Come with me,”

He was about to take my hand but I pulled it back.

The music was loud and the lights were dancing around us with the base hitting my chest so hard it felt like I might crack a rib.

I was still in a haze from the tequila but not nearly enough to make a dumb decision- like following Zade away from the witnesses.

He’s godlike in the way he moves and speaks like everything he says is definite.

“I promise you that it will be the least dumb decision you’ve ever made,”

Holy shit, he can hear what I’m thinking.

Does that mean he heard when I talked about how beautiful his eyes were?

Zade licked his lips and flickered his eyes across the club.

“I quite enjoyed the god comparison as well,”

“Holy shit!”

His hand shot out and covered my mouth and his eyes shot me down with a warning.

“Not here,” he seethed.

He grabbed my hand and pulled me away from the crowd and down a hallway behind the dance floor where the music didn’t quite reach and the base was stopped by a thick wall.

Once Zade stopped I was quick to pull my hand back and I held it close to my side.

A lock of my hair had fallen from the ponytail and was stuck against my cheek. Zade reached out his hand to remove it and I jerked my head away out of his

reach.

“Don’t touch me,” I said and saw how his face fell.

If Zade’s scent was stuck on my skin when I got back to the palace, I knew for a fact that Darian would chase him to the end of the world just for the pleasure of killing him. Not to mention what he’d do to me.

“You’re afraid,” he stated as a matter of fact.

I was too quick to forget about the mind-reading thing, I needed to control my thoughts. He can’t know about Darian.

“I already do,”

“Would you stop that!” I seethed.

Zade stepped closer and reached out his hand again- as a quick repeat of ten seconds ago, I again moved my head away but this time I didn’t get very far. He shot out his other hand and cupped my cheek, gently holding my head still while he removed the hair from my face.

“Trust me, Hazel,”

“I don’t tend to trust people that I don’t know,” I said.

The light in his eyes turned up and he stepped closer.

“You may not know me but I know you. I know who you are, what you like, what you want-” his hand was still on my cheek and his thumb stroked a line across my skin, adding pressure when he stepped closer.

“-I know everything about you,” he added.

I couldn’t take my eyes away from his. It took my breath away how beautiful he was and even if I wanted to, I wasn’t able to look away.

Zade held me pinned to my spot, weighing me down with just his gaze and at the same time making me feel lighter than I ever had.

“You want a love so powerful that fire would be jealous of its heat. The wind would ask how you were so easily swept off your feet and the water would be in awe of the lightness in which you float in his company because he removed the burden of the world from your shoulders. You want passion and love in equal amounts with nothing less than an epic story of dominance and delicate touches. A love so strong it would be written about in poetry by only the world’s greatest poets because nobody else would dare touch the words that describe this kind of love.”

I caught a breath and parted my lips while his words entered my ears like the most genuine truth I’d ever been told.

His eyes were narrow and his mouth slightly open when he leaned down. His lips brushed over mine and he tilted my head back, his breath fancy my face, and every touch was teasing my nerves and I watched how he slowly came closer.

Zade pressed his lips on my neck, his breath fanned my skin leaving bumps along the trails of his kisses. He kissed up along my jaw and my cheek before he finally pressed his lips on mine with a fiery passion that made me weak in my knees.
