Chapter 11
I pressed my finger to my lips, my wolf snarling beneath my skin as I signaled them to stay quiet.[]
“Hello, Grandma, what’s wrong?“|
“Oh Alina, sweetie, your sister came to visit but you didn’t give me any warning! I haven’t prepared anything at home.“]
Just that one sentence made my vision go black, my wolf howling in terror. I had to take several deep breaths to find my voice again, my heart hammering against my ribs.]]
“Grandma, did you let her in?“]
“Yes, but wait–she said you knew about it. Don’t you?”
Before I could answer, I heard rustling sounds on the other end, and my blood turned to ice.]
Then Zaria’s sickeningly sweet voice came through the phone like poison:[]
“Sister, Grandma and I are waiting for you at home. Make sure you come alone, and hurry up, hehe-“]
Something was wrong–so fucking wrong.]
Her mental state was completely unhinged. The manic excitement in her voice was impossible to hide, and there was an edge of pure madness that made my skin crawl.[]
“Okay! I’ll come back alone right away! Zaria, you’ll take good care of Grandma and make sure she doesn’t get hurt, right?“]]
I forced myself to stay calm, speaking to her gently even as my wolf was clawing at me to run, to get to Professor Nessa before it was too late.
There was a pause of several seconds before she finally replied, and I could practically hear the twisted smile in her voice:
“Of course! As long as sister comes, Grandma will be safe.“[]
The threat was crystal clear.[]
…0
The call ended, and I immediately sprinted toward the parking area, my wolf lending me speed as pure panic flooded my system.
The two Alphas I’d shoved aside wore identical expressions of confusion.[]
“Alina, where are you going? Don’t leave!“]
Furious and terrified beyond reason, I slapped Kaelan across the face hard enough to leave a mark as he tried to grab me.[]
“Get the fuck away from me! Kaelan, I’m asking you! Did you bring your psychotic sister here? What the hell are you two trying to do?”
My voice cracked with rage and desperation–if anything happened to Professor Nessa because of their family’s poison…[]
Chapter 11
“My sister? Oh, you mean Zaria?“|
As soon as he spoke, Lucian, who had been silent, suddenly became agitated: “That’s impossible! She’s clearly-“]
“Lucian!”
Kaelan cut him off sharply, and my suspicions crystallized into cold fury.[]
I glared daggers at Kaelan, my wolf baring her teeth. “Your sister is at Professor Nessa’s house! I’m telling you, Kaelan Darkwood, if anything happens to Grandma, I’ll make sure that psychotic bitch pays with her life–and you’ll be next!“]
My words were absolute, delivered with the promise of violence, and the two men finally told me the truth…]
They said Zaria shouldn’t be here at all.]
Half a month ago, she’d been sent away by Kaelan.[]
Right after I left, she probably thought… that with me out of the way, she could finally have her twisted happily ever after with Lucian.
For the first time, she laid her ambition and desire completely bare, telling Lucian with manic joy:[]
“Alina’s gone, but you still have me! I love you more than she does. Stop liking her and like me instead. Mate with me!“]
Lucian looked at her like she was a rabid animal.]
Even Kaeian, who’d always doted on her, was shocked into silence.[]

Luna Bloodstone, who had come to discuss rescheduling the mating ceremony, let out a cold laugh. She glanced at Zaria with pure disgust and slowly addressed Kaelan:[]
“Well, well. Looks like the wolf in sheep’s clothing finally showed fter true colors–pushed the real pup right out of the den. What a touching family reunion.”
That single sentence made all three men go pale.
But Luna Bloodstone suddenly burst into tears, pointing at Lucian with heartbroken fury:{}
“You blind, worthless fool! Your father and I have been smart our whole lives–how did we raise such a complete idiot!”
“How many times did we try to talk sense into you? You never listened, just thought we were trying to control you! I… I shouldn’t have convinced Alina to mate with you. You don’t deserve to breathe the same air as her!”
Luna Bloodstone left in tears, her words echoing like a death sentence.]
She left behind Kaelan and Lucian, finally waking up from their delusion–too late, always too fucking late.
And Zaria, who kept crying that Luna Bloodstone looked down on her for being adopted, for not being worthy.
But this time… Kaelan didn’t gently wipe away her tears.
Instead, with lightning speed, he contacted the Nordheim Institute–a strict rehabilitation facility for troubled wolves in the

remote Scandinavian territories–and had her shipped off to their most isolated compound.[]
But apparently, not far enough.[]
