Chapter 17
New Pack welcomed Alina with open arms.
Alpha Grayson and his family treated her not as an outsider, but as family from the very first day. They had lost their own daughter years ago, and something in their eyes told Alina they saw in her a chance to heal old wounds.
“You’re home now,” Luna whispered as she hugged Alina that first night, and for the first time in years, she actually believed it might be true.
The pack members embraced Alina as one of their own. There were no whispered questions about her past, no suspicious glances or careful distances.
Here, she was simply Alina–not the girl who’d fled from heartbreak. Just Alina, who belonged.
Blair who shared the age with Alina became like a sister to her. Where Alina was cautious and reserved, she was bold and vivacious. She dragged Alina to pack gatherings, introduced Alina to everyone, and refused to let her hide in the shadows of her past.
“Are you excited for the Halloween party?” Blair asks Alina during lunch.
“I don’t understand why everyone is so excited about? Seeing how Alpha Grayson, and the Luna will be there” Alina points out.
“So when does that stop anyone from having a good time?” Blair asks with a knowing look. Alina just shrugs her shoulders not wanting to talk about the party anymore. That’s all anyone has been talking about all week. Both girls sat there picking at their food when a chair next to Alina was pulled out. Now sitting nex to her was no other than Alpha Grayson’s son Keith.
“Hey Keith” Blair gushes.
“Hey Blair” He replies politely with a boyish smile the girls in their school seemed to love.
“Hey there Alina, how have you been?” Keith asks now putting all his attention on her.
“Same ol same ol” Alina shrugs as she stares at the food she’s playing with. Alina was most likely the only girl that didn’t fall for Keith’s good looks, and boyish
charms.
“Are you coming to my Halloween party tonight?” He asks not wasting anytime to get to the point of his real reason he came over to their table.
“Yea, Blair is dragging me there” She says eyeing her cousin playfully.
“Well I was wondering if you would be my date” He questions still not taking his eyes off her. Now catching Alina’s full attention, she turns to face him. She didn’t know what to say honestly, and then again she wasn’t surprised he would ask her either. For years he’s been trying to get her to go on dates with him, bu she always kindly turned him down. Before she could answer him, Keith quickly butts in.
I’m not taking a no for an answer this time Alina! So I will pick you up at seven sharp” With that said Keith leans in placing an innocent kiss on her cheek. Standing up he pushed his chair back, and walks away. Blair bursts out laughing at her cousin who was sitting there still staring at the spot Keith was just
Occupying moments ago.
The future Alpha has spoken” Blair blurts out through her fits of laughter as tears form in her eyes. Alina snaps her head over to her giving her an evil look. Then quickly notices she was getting evil looks from other females nearby as well.
Keith was a good looking guy don’t get her wrong, but he was more of a friend to her. She grew up with Keith, so she looked at him differently than the other she wolfs did. No one in her school has ever caught her attention, and Alina wasn’t sure why that was. Then again Alina really did know deep down why she never gave the guys her age the time of day. It was because of the dark mysteries man that haunts her dreams every night.
Alina decided against being a sexy witch her cousin wanted her to be, and went with something she hasn’t been in years. Slipping on the long sleeved cream color dress that was tight on top, and the bottom had a shaggy look that stopped mid–thigh. She wished she tried it on before tonight, but would have to deal with her boobs being pushed up for display for the night. Though she was surely to be more covered up then the other females that would be attending the party. Putting on a brown leather belt that would hang loose around her hips, giving her look more of a rustic style. She left her long thick brown hair in lose elegant waves, and her make–up natural. Though she did apply on the mascara a little thicker for tonight, because it made her sea green eyes stand out more. Looking at the time she realized she needed to hurry, because Keith would be there in five minutes. After tying up her knee high brown boots she threw her long deep red hooded cape around her neck. Grabbing her little picnic basket, she headed down the stairs just in time to hear the doorbell go off.
