Chapter 111
-LANA~
I couldn’t believe what I had just done. The moment I learned about Apollo’s actions the night before–how he had pretended not to care about me–something snapped inside me.
All sense of control slipped away, and all I craved was to be with my mate, no matter the consequences. But now, with his parents and my mother standing right in front of us, ready to ask the questions that were clearly weighing heavily on their minds, I realized I had made a complete mess of things.
Apollo showed no signs of being bothered by their presence, and I was taken aback by how he had consistently shielded me from his mother all this time.
He has consistently prioritized her desires above all else, bending to her every whim without hesitation. However, his actions right now spoke volumes about his feelings for me.
Even now, he positioned himself in front of me, his broad shoulders acting as a shield against the unhappy stares of those around us.
The way he stood there, firm and unmoving, made my heart swell with warmth at the sight of his unwavering support.
“What was that behavior inside the ballroom?” my mother demands, her voice harsh, I can tell just how upset she is about this. And since she knew nothing about Apollo and me, there was no telling how she was going to take this news. “Apollo, could you please step aside so I can see my daughter better?”
He refused to budge, standing firm in front of me. I was grateful for his protection. I knew my mother would never actually harm me over this but just her glare alone would make me feel uncomfortable and guilty. I didn’t want to deal with her disappointment either even though my feelings were completely out of my control.
“I have the answer,” Ms. Reign interjects, her voice laced with venom.
All eyes abruptly shifted toward her, a look of surprisé etched on their faces.
“The answer?” my mother says. “What do you mean? How could you possibly know the reason for everything that took place?”
Her voice gets louder as she answers her, “It turns out your daughter takes after you. She enjoys stealing what doesn’t belong to her.”
An unexpected revelation hung in the air like a thick fog.
“Mother,” Apollo warns, a hint of frustration in his tone. “I already told you-”
“I know what you told me,” she snaps, cutting him off. “But you didn’t follow through on your side of the deal. Since you turned your back on your promise, I will turn my back on mine. I’m going to speak my mind today since you couldn’t do the one thing I’ve been asking of you for years!”
Her words send a bolt of irritation through me. It was plain as day that she was making it known Apollo was only agreeing to marry Jada to please her. Now that he was hesitant to go through with it, she was furious.

Chapter 111
How could a mother force her son to marry someone he had no interest in? I had always questioned whether he might have feelings for Jada, but today made it crystal clear that she meant nothing to him. The truth was he had been trying to make his mother happy, yet she treated him poorly for not following her exact wishes. It bothered me that she treated him that way, like his life was a game for her.
“Hold on,” my mother interrupts.“What do you mean by that, Emily? How is my daughter similar to me? What has she done for you to speak about her like that? Ever since you arrived, it seems there’s been an issue between you and my daughter. Is there a specific reason behind it?“.
“Have you really not noticed how your daughter behaves around my son?” Ms. Reign challenged. “Have you been blind to it all? I know my ex–husband is painfully slow and misses everything going on under his own roof. But you? I’m shocked you’ve let this happen. I thought you would at least have more intelligence than my ex–husband!”
It seemed like Apollo and I wouldn’t need to say anything, as his mother was about to reveal the truth to everyone ahead
of time.
“What are you saying?” my stepfather demands, clearly agitated. “Get to the point. I want to know what’s been going on in my house without my knowledge. I cannot stand your mind games Emily. We all want to get to the bottom of this madness so that we can solve the problem.”
Apollo’s mother let out a sarcastic laugh. “At least I’ve kept the children living under my roof from doing things that others would frown upon.”
I could hear the frustration in my mother’s voice as she pressed, “What has my daughter been doing without me knowing? I will not ask again.”
“We’d like to know, too,” Jada’s mother chimed in, finally speaking since the chaos erupted around us. “We were under the impression your son wanted to marry our daughter Emily. What did you know and choose not to share?”
An uncomfortable silence fell over us before Ms. Reign finally spoke up. “I apologize for withholding this truth from you, Anastasia.” She says, her tone softening. “I genuinely thought what was happening between Apollo and Lana was nothing serious. I believed she was just another one of those girls he played around with and moved on from the next day. Clearly, I was mistaken.”
“Watch your mouth,” my mother shot back. “I won’t just stand by while you belittle my daughter.”
“Belittle? Oh, honey, your daughter has been sneaking around with my son for weeks,” Ms. Reign shot back. “I’m not belittling anyone; I’m just stating the facts here.”
Once again, silence enveloped us, her words hitting everyone like a slap in the face.
