Chapter 126
~LANA~
One minute, I was trying to climb from the window onto a nearby tree, and the next, my foot slipped, leaving me hanging on for dear life.
I couldn’t believe this was happening to me. I thought I had everything properly planned out but clearly I didn’t have a clue of what I was doing.
It was all supposed to go so smoothly; my plan was to use the tree to help myself to the ground and then find a place to contact Apollo or my sister. But now, I might have no choice but to call out for my mother to come help unless I wanted to fall flat on my back.
I quickly dismissed that thought. I couldn’t give up now. Glancing down, the ground seemed a lot farther than I expected, and l’let out a groan.
Come on Lana. You can do to. Maybe if I just closed my eyes, the fall wouldn’t hurt as much. I wasn’t sure how long I’d been hanging for but my hands felt sweaty and I was losing my grip with each passing second.
Think. There must be something else that I could do to stop myself from falling.I probably would have had better luck getting down from here if I’d used blankets and tied them to something like I’d seen others do in movies. I inwardly groaned. How could I get back to Apollo if i couldn’t even come up with a safe way to get down from here?
I try to move a little more to the right but something sharp touches my hand, catching me by surprise.
I gasp as my hand slips, and in an instant, I was plummeting toward the ground.
As I braced myself for the impact of a hard surface beneath me, I was taken by surprise when I found myself cradled in a pair of strong, yeassuring arms. I gasp, my body still in shock.
I definitely wasn’t expecting to fall straight into someone’s waiting arms.
My heart raced, and I didn’t need to glance up to confirm that it was my mate who’d caught me. The unmistakable burning sensation filled the air around us, instantly making me feel hot and also protected. His grip was firm and strong, his warmth radiating from him grounding me in that moment. I held my breath as the instant relief is quickly followed by a spark of something deeper as I tensed against his solid frame.
Words couldn’t describe how good it felt to see him again. It’s only been a few hours yet the full moon made it feel like we hadn’t seen each other in years.
We are locked in a gaze that feels stretched against time, each second heavy with unspoken emotions. Apollo’s initial look of relief quickly morphs into a fierce scowl, his brow furrowing and lips pressing into a thin line.
My pull my bottom lip into my mouth, unsure of the sudden change in his mood.
I can’t help but frown, my heart racing with confusion. Did he see something that upset him?
What could that possibly be? Shouldn’t he feel happy to see me again? Granted, our reunion might not have unfolded in the most graceful manner–I can only imagine how surprising it must have been for him to witness me tumbling through the open window. But, what was life without a bit of excitement every now and then?
“What the fuck were you thinking Lana?” He demands, his words and tone taking me by complete surprise. I remain silent as he examines me for any bruises even though he was the one that saved me from crashing to the ground. He should know that I wouldn’t have any bruises on
- me.
“What do you mean?” I whisper.

Chapter 126
His gaze hardens, “I didn’t think I would walk in here searching for you and find you falling from a window. Do you even understand the pati that instantly took over? What if I hadn’t gotten here in time? What would have happened to you?”
I pout, “I was thinking of a way to get to you without getting in trouble with my mother. As you know, they hid me here to keep us apart. wanted to see you. I couldn’t contact you because my mother took my phone from me.”
He sighs, “even though you wanted to see me, you shouldn’t have put yourself in harm’s way to make that happen. You didn’t have to try and escape. Don’t you know I will always come for you?”
My heart races uncontrollably, each thud echoing like a drum in my chest. His words linger in the atmosphere, heavy and charged, wrapping around me like a thick fog. I struggle to gather my thoughts as the weight of his gaze makes it difficult for me to find my voice,
I didn’t think it was possible to fall more for Apollo but here I was, falling even harder than before.
I liked knowing that he would always come for me.
“I was hoping I would land without an issue but my fingers slipped and-,” my voice trails off when I realize the way he is looking at me.
There is this raw hunger in his gaze that sends a shiver down my spine. Could it be that he was having the same strong irresistible pull that I felt all night?
“And what?” he asks as he leans into me, his voice hoarse.
“I–I can’t think properly when you’re staring at
ing at me like that,” I confess.
“How am I staring at you?” he whispers as he walks with me until I’m pressed up against the cool wall, his large frame in front of me.
“You know how.” I say as I struggle to breathe. My need for him was growing and the tension between us rising as well.
“I can’t help myself.” He growls. “I came here with the intention of finding you but now that you are in my arms, there are other dark thoughts clouding my mind.”
Dark thoughts?
“Like what?” I ask him, my back arching so that I’m closer to him.
His gaze travels to my breast and it feels like I’m giving him an
“I want you, Lana.” He says low and throaty.
open invitation.
My entire body reacts to his words as heat travels from my belly straight to between my legs.
I want him too.
