Chapter 131
LANA
“How long are you planning on keeping this up?” I ask my mother. “I feel suffocated.”
Apollo left about an hour ago and while my mother had no clue about him being here these past few days, she still refused to leave my side.
She sighs, “Aren’t you happy to be spending time with me? We should do this more often. I’m actually having a good time.”
While I obviously enjoyed spending time with my mother, I didn’t want it under these circumstances.
“I want to see Apollo.” I tell her.
She didn’t have to know that I’ve been seeing him m every day since she brought
visits.

day? The whole point of bringing you here was to give you the time
How many times did I have to tell her that I already what I wanted?
“How did this even happen?” she asks me. “There was a point in time that you couldn’t even stand him. Your stepfather and I had to force the both of you to be in the same room.”
I shrug and say, “We’ve both grown up since then. Now I understand things I didn’t back then. He deliberately did things to provoke me because he wanted to push me away.”
She frowns, “and what do you think has changed now Lana?”
I take a few seconds to think about her question. “He has accepted that we are mates.”
She sighs, “I am sure that his reason for pushing you away is his mother. She doesn’t want the two of you to be together. That is never going to change Lana. How long do you think Apollo will keep this up? When she comes down on him harder, he will eventually listen to her.”
I was just about to respond when we both heard a noise coming from downstairs. It struck me as odd; there shouldn’t be anyone here with us. Apollo wouldn’t have returned so soon, and even if he did, he wouldn’t be inside the house.
“Why did it sound like someone just closed the front door?” I ask her.
She frowns and replies, “It could be your stepfather, but I definitely wasn’t expecting him. He usually gives me a heads–up before coming
over.”
A knot of unease tightened in my chest, a strange feeling that something threatening was lurking just around the corner. The atmosphere felt
charged, as if I was being warned.
We are both quiet as we try to figure out what was responsible for the sound.
Then, in the tense silence, we heard it again, but louder this time–a sudden, jarring bang that shattered the calm.
My mother’s eyes flew wide open, her pupils dilating in alarm as the realization hit us both: this was not a normal sound. It definitely didn’t scream friendly.
“Stay here,” she commands softly, yet firmly, as she shifts her weight towards the door. “I’ll go check it out.”

“No, I reply, my voice barely above a whisper, laced with worry, “I won’t let you face whatever It is down there alone. We don’t know wh is and it can be dangerous.”
Suddenly, I find myself reflecting on the last attack I endured. Apollo had been there to rescue me then, but now he was away, having a conversation with his mother, completely unaware of the chaos unfolding around me.
“It’s probably just something harmless,” she attempts to comfort me, her voice a fragile mask over the tension radiating from her.
I could see it in the way her grip tightened on the doorknob, her will wavering—she was scared too, though she was determined to protect me first and foremost.
“Maybe we should just lock ourselves in the room, at least for now,” I propose, my heart racing.
Though the thought of being trapped in here while unguarded is a bit unsettling. I can see the moment when she agrees with me.
She clicks the lock into place, a look of uncertainty crossing her face. “Maybe you’re right,” she says, her voice a little shaky. “I’ll stay here with you.”
I glance around the room hesitantly, feeling the weight of our isolation. “We should probably try calling someone,” I suggest, anxiety creeping into my tone. “Do you have your phone?” I ask, suddenly remembering that she had taken it from me as part of my punishment.
Her eyes widen in disbelief as the realization struck her. “I left both our phones downstairs on the sofa,” she gasps. “This is not good.”
Panic surged through me as the implications sank in. We were trapped in here, with no means to alert anyone if we were truly in danger. The air felt thick with tension, and an unsettling silence loomed.
“It’s quiet now,” she says as her eyes brighten with hope. “Maybe we got worried for no-,”
She doesn’t get to finish her sentence as we hear a loud crashing noise. My heart races as I gaze at the room door, now completely destroyed, its heavy frame reduced to a disheveled heap on the floor before us.
My pulse quickens, a mix of adrenaline and uncertainty coursing through me as the reality of the scene sinks in.
My hands quiver uncontrollably as I catch sight of three imposing figures in the doorway, their broad shoulders filling the frame. Even their shadows were terrifying to look at.
The dim light barely reveals their faces, but I think I prefer it that way.
“Take her,” one of the men barked to the others.
What on earth was going on? Why were these guys here for us?
It quickly dawns on me that they were moving toward me. I was wrong. These men hadn’t come here for both of us; they were here specifically for me.
At the same mornent I come to this realization, my mother does too.
“No!” she exclaims, stepping in front of me. “You are not taking my daughter away!”
“Get out of the way lady.” The biggest one out of the three threatens her.
She refuses to move and I scream when he grabs her by the hair and throws her against the wall. I watch in horror as she instantly goes
unconscious.
He swivels his body to face me, a dark grin spreading across his lips. With a voice dripping with malice, he leans closer and declares, “You are coming with us.”
