APOLLO-
I could hear a commotion coming from the front door, instantly grabbing my attention. I hoped it wasn’t some girl from my past showing up unannounced to stir up drama. I always made sure to tell them upfront that I was not looking for any relationship,
My eyes widened when I remembered that Lana had opened the door at her mother’s request. Which meant if the person at the door came to see me, Lana would be the one to greet them.
Damn it.
I needed to check this out and make sure it wasn’t anything serious.
As I turn the corner, my stomach drops when I got a clear view of the door. I blink once, then twice, trying to confirm for myself that I wasn’t hallucinating.
Mom?
What in the world was she doing here?
I knew she could be a bit unpredictable when she didn’t hear from me, but I never expected her to show up unannounced. Had she really hopped on a jet just because I wasn’t answering her calls?
Shit. It did seem like something she would do but still, I was having a hard time believing this wasn’t just a silly dream that I would soon wake up from.
She had never once set foot on this property before. She hated Lana’s mom and had been adamant about staying away from their home. She must be fuming and desperate to see me to come all this way.
It looked like my mom was about to unleash on Lana’s mom, and here was Lana stuck in the middle. I had to step in quickly before things escalated
further.
strode over, taking long strides. As I approached, I caught sight of Lana looking in my direction, and her eyes went wide.
I never wanted her to interact with my mother because I knew they wouldn’t get along. My mom still held a grudge against Lana’s family for taking my father–away from her.
“Mother,” I greet her. “What are you doing here?”
Her anger fades slightly at the sight of me.
“Oh, Apollo,” she says, pulling me into a tight hug. “Mummy has missed you so much.”
When I glance at Lana, she shoots me a worried look.
“You weren’t answering my calls,” she scolds lightly. “I thought something might’ve happened since you usually return my calls right away. I had to come see for myself that you were okay.”
Lana’s mom took her hand and gently led her away from the doorway, likely to avoid any confrontation. Thank goodness for that; the last thing we needed was a clash between my mom and Lana’s./
“You came all this way just because I didn’t answer your calls?” I ask, incredulous.
Did she hear how absurd that sounded?
“Don’t be silly!” She lightly slaps my arm. “I knew you were busy and couldn’t make it to dinner with Jada. So, I brought her along! I already made reservations for tomorrow night.”

Chapter 28
Damn it.
Of course, she would find a way to force me into meeting Jada.
Only then did I notice the young girl beside her, dressed in a long white dress, looking up at me shyly.
“Mother-”

“I’m not taking no for an answer!” she interjects firmly. “You know how long I’ve been trying to get you to take her to dinner. I won’t let you put this off any longer!”
Arguing was futile. If she wanted me to see Jada, I had no choice but to comply. The sooner I got through it, the sooner my mom would leave.
“Fine,” I relented. “But where do you plan to stay tonight?”
She sighs. “Well, obviously, this house isn’t welcoming to me. I’ve booked a hotel, and Jada will be staying with me. I was wondering if you’d like to stay in the same hotel tonight. It’ll be so much fun!”
1 frown. This was definitely not how I envisioned today going.
“I don’t know if that’s a good idea. I already had plans for tonight,” I reply dryly.
She looks offended. “How often do I even come to visit you, Apollo?” she pleads. “You can’t cancel plans for two nights just to spend time with your mother? I’ll leave after tomorrow night since I have business to tend to. Don’t you want to spend a little time with me?”
Guilt washes over me; my mom had a way of making me feel awful for saying no.
“Alright,” I concede. “I’ll meet you at the hotel. Just text me the details, and I’ll see you there in an hour or two.”
“I’ll give you two a proper introduction at the hotel!” my mother exclaims, clapping her hands in excitement.
I nod and close the door after she said goodbye.
Leaning against the entrance, I can’t help but wonder why I ignored her calls before. I should have known better since she always had a knack for
overreacting about everything.
As I walk upstairs, I find Lana waiting with her arms crossed, right in front of my door.
“That was quite the show,” she remarks.
“What do you mean?” I ask.
“Meeting your mother for the first time,” she clarifies.
shrug. “She can be a bit much sometimes,” I admit.
She looks like she wants to say more, but something holds her back.
“Is there something else on your mind?” I prompt.
“Who was the girl with her?” she blurts out.
Damn.
