Alpha’s White Lie
Chapter 162
“She meant nothing then, and she means nothing new. I broke off all contact with her the day I met you, and from that midsment, you hate bees the wor woman in. His face had sorry written all over it. The guilt was eating him up.
Blake sighed and reached out for my hands when I didn’t respond, but I quickly moved it away, leaving his hand hanging in the air.
Angel, your need to understand, my relationship with Cynthia was purely physical. Just a horny man wanting to get laid without consequences. I never had any feelings for her, and it was a relationship based on convenience,” he pressed.
“Then why did you hide it from me? Is this why you’ve been so tense all day? Because you knew she was here and might tell me about your little past arrangement? I was mad. He had made me a promise, and if he expected honesty from me, then I deserved honesty in return.
“When Klaus called to tell me who the witch was that cast the spell on you, I knew there was a chance we would see Cynthia. You are right. I should have come clean, and I’m sorry. I just didn’t know how you would react.”
“That’s your excuse? You didn’t know how I would react?! Really, Blake? After everything we’ve been through, this is the secret you think I will react badry to? Have you lost your mind? You have a crazy twin brother pretending to be you to sleep with me. I’ve just found out that I’ve got an evil magic spell that is trying to kill me from the inside. If I can deal with all that, your drop–dead gorgeous ex–girlfriend is just a little grain in my world of problems. By hiding this, you have made it a bigger problem than it should be. I would have helped you face a vexed ex–girlfriend instead of almost getting attacked by her.” my voice was louder than needed, but I didn’t care.
AN Blake had to do was say we would bump into an ex–girlfriend while we were here, but his approach to the situation had planted a seed of suspicion in my head.
Was there more to the story than he was telling me?
“I’m sorry, Angel. I really didn’t think it through and acted irrationally. I had never mentioned Cynthia before, and honestly, I didn’t think we would ever see her given how things ended with her. But because I never said anything to you, I didn’t want you to feel as though I was still seeing her or something.” Blake squeezed his hands together and kept his head down, not meeting my eye.
“Well, congratulations. You not telling me about Cynthia makes me feel exactly that way. Is there something else you’re hiding? Will another psychotic ex try to kill me in my sleep?” I demanded.
“No, Angel, no. That won’t happen, Blake protested.
‘I’m sure you had very good intentions. But if I remember correctly, a couple of days ago, you thought I had betrayed you and fallen pregnant, so I think I have the right to question you about this.” I got up from my seat and started to pace around. My head was swimming from all the information, and my still rattled heart wasn’t any help in lessening the blood flow.
“Tell me something, why did you pick me over her?! She’s so breathtaking; for a second, even Rocky was swayed by her beauty. Why would you want to be with me when you have women like Cynthia at your disposal?” I ran my hands through my hair in frustration.
That’s when it dawned on me,
“Were all the girls from your past as stunning as Cynthia is?‘ I stopped pacing and looked at Blake.
Before he could answer, Rocky walked back into the cafe.
‘Hey guys, I’m sorry to be interrupting, but Klaus just called. We need to get a move on‘ Rocky could sense the awkwardness between Blake and me.
‘Give us 5 minutes, Rockz,” Blake finally responded.
