Max just kept staring at the mysterious lady before us. Uncertainty was evident on his face.
Suddenly from behind Selene, a growl erupted.
I gasped and quickly grabbed Max, hiding behind him.
“Don’t be scared. She’s part of you,” Selene laughed.
From beyond the darkness, another set of glowing eyes appeared. Loud footsteps shook the ground we were standing on as the eyes got closer, a glowing wolf starting to show.
A large wolf emerged from behind Selene, standing tall next to her.
A bright glow surrounded the wolf, revealing its thick gray fur.
Don’t be scared, sweetheart. You are always safe with me a voice rang through my mind.
“What the hell was that?!” I shrieked, getting a fright from the voice.
My heart started racing, the loud thudding echoing through my ears
“That, my dear, is your wolf. This is Kiki, your wolf spirit” Selene smiled, gently creasing the top of the wolf’s head.
Kiki tilted her head and let her tongue hang out the side of her mouth. A happy whimper vibrated through her.
“My wolf?! I thought she was dormant?!” I looked up at Max, who was just as shocked as I was.
“You underestimate my powers, love. As the Moon Goddess, I can wake any spirit I want, when I want.” Selene snickered.
The wolf suddenly flopped on the floor and laid down with her head on her legs.
“This still doesn’t explain why you’re here?! I have never heard of you making such appearances,” Max grumbled.
“Yet another one that underestimates my power. I can do what I want when I want. I’ve been waiting for Rosy for 29 years. I finally get to restore balance; of course, I’m here.” Selene twirled around.
“No restoration just yet, your highness. We still have the matter of the suppressant spell on Rosy. Evelyn refused to lift the spell. Unt une spell is lifted, Rosy’s wolf can’t show herself.” Max rolled his eyes and pulled me forward, wrapping his arm around my waist.
Selene narrowed her eyes, and Kiki let out a low snarl, lifting her head and baring her teeth.

*I agree with Kiki; you should move away from her. No one here is going to hurt Rosy.” Selene hissed.
Max immediately dropped his hand and stepped away from me.
That was a first. Max usually never obeyed orders.
Kiki got up and walked over to me.
Only our mate is allowed to touch us the voice rang in my mind again.
I looked down at the wolf as she approached me. I didn’t realize how tall Kiki was until she was right in front of me. At her tallest, the top of her head was touching my shoulders; I was 5’7“. I couldn’t fathom how huge she was. I had only seen Blake and Rocky in their wolf forms once, and I didn’t have a chance to absorb much since I passed out from fear.
