Chapter 115
Ryan looked at the people passed out on the ground and quickly grabbed Winifred’s hand. “Winifred, that’s enough. They’re out cold.”
Winifred pulled her hand back, glanced at their faces, and sneered, “Doesn’t look like they’re really out. Should I let a snake loose and see what happens?”
Hearing this, the people on the ground snapped their eyes open, ignoring the pain as they dropped to their knees and begged for mercy. “We fucked up! Please–please–we’re sorry!”
“Little witch, we swear, we’ll never set foot on your turf again.”
“Yeah, yeah, we only got fifty thousand. We’ll give it all back, every last cent, alright?”
Winifred hopped onto a nearby platform, dangling her long legs. “Then bring it over already.”
“Okay, Okay!”
Winifred took the money and swaggered back with Ryan.
Ryan couldn’t help but ask, “Winifred, are we supposed to give this money back?”
Winifred shot him a sideways glance, eyes narrowed. “We got this with our own skills–why give it back? Let’s go buy ourselves something delicious.”
Just then, her phone buzzed with a message: [Cripple someone for me tomorrow night. One million. You in?]
Winifred washed her hands, her eyes turning cold. [Send the info.]
The info came through fast. Winifred skimmed them and let out a derisive snort. “Only a million to risk going to a place like that? What a joke.”
She texted. [Make it three and I’ll take any body part.]
[Deal. Three million. Break his legs. One million upfront, two million after it’s done.]–
Winifred: [Guess you don’t know how I work. I never take deposits. If you want me on the job, wire the full amount to my account within ten minutes. Any later, and the price goes up.]
She shoved her phone into her pocket and headed straight for the convenience store–it was a ten–minute walk, give or take. Right as she was about to step through the door, her phone chimed–a cool three million just landed in her account.
Back at her place, Winifred started digging into the details. It seemed it was a business symposium.
All the major players in Vallaris would be there. Not exactly the easiest place to make a move, especially since Sienna’d be there too.
‘What a pain,‘ she muttered under her breath.
She crushed an empty beer can in her hand and tossed it over her shoulder, nailing the trash can from across the room. ‘Looks like I need to come up with a backup plan,‘ she thought.
The next morning, a pang of disappointment hit Vivian when she found no one by her side. ‘Did Sienna sneak off to see Amber last night?‘ she wondered.
After washing up, she headed downstairs and saw Amber and Sienna sitting together, both focused on the same tablet. Jealousy and envy grew wild in
her heart like weeds.
“Morning, Vivian,” Sienna called out.
Chapter 115
“Morning, Sis. What are you guys looking at?” Vivian asked, doing her best to hide the disappointment and uneasiness in her eyes. She strode over, ignoring Amber’s obvious urge to show off, and sat down next to Sienna.
“Just going over some questions. Amber got stuck on a few, so I’m helping her figure out the key points,” Sienna replied.
Vivian grumbled, “She’s literally the worst in the whole school–since when can she ever solve problems? Sis, I think she’s just making trouble on purpose and wasting your time.”
Sienna turned to Amber and gave her shoulder a reassuring squeeze. “Amber’s actually really smart. She’s not wasting my time at all in fact, I’m genuinely interested in the way she solves problems. Vivian, don’t talk about your sister like that.”
Vivian wasn’t going to embarrass herself in front of Sienna.
