Chapter 57
Valencia
Killian’s hand landed on my wrist and he held it gently before turning around to start walking. I didnt want to get lost so I followed him reluctantly
Our little walk was silent and again my brain tried to keep track of all the turns and twists of the palace,
There were huge chandeliers and drapes hanging down at regular intervals along with torches that illuminated our pathway.
I wondered how this place was untouched yet from modern development when the rest of the world couldnt survive a day without the internet or a mobile.
My device was probably beyond saving by now. And it was a funny thing that I didnt even think about it ever sirice coming here.
This place was really quite weird and had an ancient charm to it.
Killian kept leading me through a series of hallways and stairs before he finally stopped outside a huge wooden door with intricate designs.
The door was so tall that I had to crane my neck high up and I could still barely see the top of it.
Killian smiled at me and nodded, “After you”
I hesitated but he encouraged me to push through the doors and an amazing sight greeted me.
A huge library overflowing with books that filled
Very nook and crany of the place could be seen wherever my gaze landed.
There were tomes as large as a suitcase and there were various colors of yellowed pages poking out through leatherbound and paperbacks sitting neatly arranged in rows that ran along the walls of the library.
I gasped at the sight as Killian walked in and turned around, hands raised to the sides.
“I knew you would like it”
He grinned as I stared at wonder to look all around me.
“I figured since you always spent your days in files and papers, this would make you feel a little less homesick.”
Homesick.
I wasn’t even sure where my home truly was.
Where my parents lived and tried to arrange playdates for me, or in the city where the Bureau had shortage of work to dump on me.
“Come on in, dont stand there.” Killian urged me and I stepped on the soft carpet.
Killian fell in steps beside me as he began to explain.
“The royal library of Elorin. Not many footsteps lead here as most are content with court and battelfied so you will find peace and quiet here.”
“You still haven’t told me how you managed to drag me here and do all that stuff back in the Bureau. How did you even know I was the Blessed one? The mark doesnt show up on me.”
A knowing smile appeared on his lips.
“It did appear on you. Too bad there was no camera with me or I would have taken a snap.”
Taht brought me to another question.

Chapter 57
“Why does technology not work here?”
Killian shrugged.
“Elorin is part of the ancient world. Just like werewolves and lycans are. Some of us blended with the modern world but some choose to stay close to nature and away from teh mess humans make of the planet.”
I folded my hands across my chest.
At least, I had gotten some kind of an answer. Maybe, if I kept asking, he would tell me everything eventually.
“You are a human too.” I pointed out.
“Partly yes. Though I would like to believe that it is my lesser form.”
“Lesser form?”
He shrugged.
“Thats what the age old lycan belief is either way. That human body is too fragile and is our lesser form while our lycan form is our strongest and true
form.”
As if that explained everything. But his beliefs in lycan lore were none of my concern right now.
“About the Bureau…” I began and he sighed.
“I just got creative and made use of a loophole. When I realized they were trying to contain you, I took up an alias of someone nobody had seen in person and bluffed my way through it.”
That made me hang my mouth open.
“You bluffed your way through it?”
Kilian gave me a smirk.
“You have no idea what all things you can achieve if you just lie confidently.”
“Is that what you were doing all those days? Lying to me?”
I said and hated the way my voice cracked a little at that last questio
I hated the way I sounded hurt and weak.
Killian’s smirk disappeared and he closed the book he had just opened to read with a soft thud.
“There are many things I did but by no means did I ever lie to you.”
“But you did. You pretended to care for me, cook for me, be a callboy. I dont even know how you got inside my house.”
Killian added softly.
“I kept things from you. That is true. But it was not a lie.”
“Everything about you was a lie. You didnt even work at that pub. I asked the waiter.”
That made him look at me in surprise.
“You went to ask for me?”
He looked so hopeful but I didnt want to give him any.

“Obviously, I didnt want to be charged for kidnapping of murder”
That made the hope disappear in his eyes instantly.
Good. Now, he will know how it feels to be left in the dark.
“That is very kind of you to go look for me. I didnt expect you to. And regarding the lies, I repeat i didn’t lie to you. Even the name I gave you, fan, that is an abbreviation of Killian. You are smart enough to work that out.”
That mischievous grin was back again on his face.
“But why do all this than just drag me the moment you noticed me? Why put on such a show of being my callboy? So that you could laugh at me in private or with your friends?”
Damn, why did I sound so affected and hurt again? I had to get a grip on myself.
“I didn’t want to drag you like you were just an means to an end. You are a living breathing human and a beautiful soul. I wanted to earn your trust.”
That only made me more angry.
“So that you could break it voer and over again? Is that how court politics works prince Killian?”
The way I took his name with honorifics made him do a double take and he scratched the back of his neck.
“I apologize for the stress I gave you, my queen. It was not my intention to lure you in a trap but simply bring you to my kingdom that desperately needs saving. Thousands of lives are at stake here.”
I recalled him mentioning the curse of Morwenna and how lycans were turning into a weak, forgotten species.
I had not even heard of a lycan in the recent years and werewolves ruled the human city, blending in with them and living along them.
Lycans were a thing of the past, just a folklore and a
myth.
So Morwenna’s curse was truly in effect. But I wasn’t quite sure how were thousands of lives at stake.
“So I am supposed to just wave a magic wand and you get back all your lost glory and power? Is that how thousand lives will be saved?”
I asked, sarcasm dripping from my voice.
Killian however turned serious and thought about the answer before muttering.
“No, but if you dont do it soon, we all will die.”
What?
