Chapter 73
Valencia
The walk back to the quarters we shared was awkward, but thankfully Killian didn’t taunt me further about it.
He only slipped into his bed and reminded me.
“5 am tomorrow. Don’t be late.”
I stifled a yawn and went to the other bed, throwing myself on it.
“Well, just wake me up when you do.”
He didn’t say anything and only pulled the sheets over his head, turned his back to me and closed his eyes.
Weirdo.
I grumbled and turned off the lights, not bothering to strip off the dress, and pulled up the sheets as well.
I was tired already from so much walking around and didn’t want my brain to explode because of all the wild thoughts churning in my head.
So, I closed my eyes and willed my brain to shut up. Thankfully, it did.
The next morning I was awoken by a knock on the door.
“Come in,” I said groggily, rubbing my eyes.
“Good morning, Lady Valencia,” Mary chirped as she opened the door.
“Good morning,” I groaned and turned over, rolling on my back in the silky soft sheets. She pushed the curtains open, and I raised my hand to block the sunrays.
“Argh,” I groaned again and asked her to pull them back. I wanted to do nothing but sleep in the bed all day.
But then she came towards the bed and tugged on my sheets.
I opened my eyes to look at her, and she said. “I might get into trouble for this, but I think Prince Killian is pissed at you.”
-rubbed my eyes while stifling a yawn.
“Why? Did i snatch his favorite pillow or something?”
She wasn’t smiling but rather looked a little nervous when she answered, “Based on the way he was wearing his training gear and staring in the direction of this room’s window, I would hazard a guess that he wanted you there.”
Shit.
I immediately got up and sat on the bed, all the sleep flying out of my eyes in an instant.
“What time is it now?” I asked, and she answered. “Almost close to 11 am.”
Shit, shit. Shit.

I jumped out of the bed and ran to the bathroom to quickly brush my teeth and splashed water on my face.
Running towards the wardrobe, I asked frantically.
“What clothes am I supposed to wear while training?”
60%
She pulled out a pair of leggings and a blouse that I immediately put on, tied my laces and was running out of the room while tying my hair in a ponytail.
Somehow, I managed to reach the castle grounds without getting lost, but it still took me a few more minutes.
I stepped outside the castle and saw him pacing at the far end of the grounds.
I ran towards him and was already huffing by the time I stopped a few feet away from him. Placing my hands on my knees, I took in a few big breaths before saying.
“Hey, sorry, I slept longer than usual and…” I began, but he immediately turned to look at me with a stern gaze.
“What time were you asked to show up here, Miss Valencia?”
I straightened my back and looked at him guiltily.
“Uh, sorry I overslept and…”
“What time were you supposed to show up?” He asked, his voice hard as steel.
“Uh, I know it was 5 am, and I was asleep, but…”
He came to stand directly in front of me, a muscle in his jaw twitching.
“You are going to complete two rounds of this ground now!” He said, and I blinked.
“You can’t be serious, Killian.”
“NOW!!”
He shouted, and I stepped back because I had never seen him shout at me like this.
A few people stopped doing whatever they had been to look up at us, and I scratched the back of my neck sheepishly.
“Have you seen how big the ground is?” I asked, and he low key threatened me.
“If you dont start running, I am going to let a few wolves behind you.”
What?
I waited for him to smile, to smirk and say he was joking, but he didn’t.
This man was fucking nuts. I looked up at the sun that was now directly over my head. It must be 12 pm already.
Who makes someone exercise at noon when the sun is blazing hot?
I tried to give him a helpless look, but he kept staring at me stoically. Grumbling to myself, I finally began to run around the castle’s perimeter. And only now that I realize how huge it was.

The castle was truly magnificent, with stone walls and towers that seemed to touch the sky. The garden was adorned with soft green grass, and I could spot colorful flowers every now and then, placed aesthetically around the ground.
And the view of the ocean splashing at the rocks below was too stunning to miss. I had never really looked at the castle from all angles. It was truly a mesmerizing sight.
But I would have appreciated it more had I been running in the soft morning light, not this afternoon heat.
Sweat was already flowing down my temples, and I was beginning to feel a little itchy. I was going to ask him to be lenient with me and just let me go with one round.
I would do whatever he asked provided there was enough shade for the rest of the afternoon.
My legs were already struggling to keep up the pace, and I somehow managed to complete one round after almost what felt like an
hour.
I couldn’t even reach the starting spot, and my legs gave in as I collapsed down on the ground.
Killian heard the soft thud, and a few guards rushed forward to help me.
My face planted into dirt that I inhaled as it stuck to my face and sweaty arms when they hauled me up.
But Killian didn’t move an inch. He stayed where he was, hands folded and glaring at me.
I dusted my clothes, and somebody offered me water, that I gladly took.
He watched stoically as I wiped my face with the towel someone offered and my exhaustion turned to irritation.
He did not even come forward to help me even when he saw me smacking myself in the dirt. Grumbling to myself, I began limping
towards him.
“I don’t think I can run another round.”
I said in a tired voice, but he only looked me up from head to toe.
“You took almost two hours to complete just a single lap. I don’t think you want to be trained either. I am just wasting my time.”
Okay, that hurt a little.
“What is wrong with you? You saw me fall and struggle. I am not some warrior okay, I am just a regular girl…”
I couldn’t help but voice out his frustration, and he snapped back at me.
“That is correct, You are no warrior, but you are not a regular girl either. You are the fucking savior of this kingdom, but you can’t even complete a lap without fainting.”
“Hey, I didn’t faint okay” I replied hotly, but he continued to talk as if I had never spoken.
“You are nothing but a weak and lazy girl who would rather wear pretty dresses and hanker after other girls rather than learn how to defend yourself.”
Hanker?
When the hell did I do that?

My cheeks flushed red with anger.
“I wouldn’t need to be watchful of killers every step I took if I hadn’t been dragged here without my permission.”
Killian would usually reply to that with an apology, but there was no emotion in his voice when he said.
“Maybe the rumours were true after all. Rejecting you is the right thing to do rather than trying to save you.”
