The wind howled past my cars as my body plummeted, but I didn’t panic.

On the contrary, in that moment, I felt an unprecedented sense of calm–because I knew I was finally free.
In the split second of the fall, I focused all my attention and let my wolf take over.
Mid–air, I shifted into my wolf form. My claws latched precisely onto a jagged rock jutting from the cliffside. Using it for leverage, I pushed off and landed steadily in the dense forest below, running toward home.
“Look what the cat brought in!” Comes Emma’s voice the moment I step inside the house. I’m naked and bloody and all I want right now is a hot shower.
“You could have warned me!” I just state to her and walk by, heading up the stairs and to my room. I hear her running after me and when I come inside my room I head right over to my bathroom.
“I did warn you to not go there! I was you who didn’t listen” she says when I turn on the shower and wait for the water to get warmer before stepping inside.
“But you knew!” I say to her and look angrily at her. She just starts to laugh and I roll my eyes at her. I’m not surprised about her behavior at all. I bet she finds this really funny!
“Yes, I did! And maybe I thought it was time you saw that nice piece of ass again. How did you like your time with your mate” she says and wiggles her eyebrows at me. Pinching the bridge of my nose and takes a deep breath.
I chose to ignore Emma’s question and sank into the hot water.
It’s a good thing she is one of my best friends or she would be in deep problems by now.
I rescued her and her daughter a while after I had been forced out of his kingdom. She had lived as a slave for two years with her little daughter, I run into them when I was looking for a new place to stay. 1
She was badly beaten up and chained to a tree with her daughter. I couldn’t leave her there and I ended up killing the three men who owned her. I was sick to my stomach by everything she had to endure during her years.
But none of them managed to break her spirit. She is fun and caring, we are as close as we can be. She and her daughter are a part of my family,
I’m very lucky I ran into her and her daughter. Emma is a witch with the sight of seeing some of the future, but right now I’m about to question her friendship. She could have warned me to not go close to the fight, and tell me what would happen if I did.
Rinsing out my shampoo I turn off the shower and walk out. Emma was already nowhere to be seen.
After changing my clothes, I opened the door and walked out. Heading down the stairs and to the kitchen I just need to grab something to eat.

When I walked into the kitchen, I found Sari cooking some potions, she is an older witch and was one of the first who helped me when I was on the run. I don’t think I would be here today if it wasn’t for her.
She has helped me with everything and figured out how to handle being a white wolf.
“Glad you are back! We need you here.” Sari comes over to hug me,
As I was about to reply, Jessie and Jacob suddenly walked in through the door.
It looks like they had just come back from training outside.
“I was a bit worried for you!” Jessie frowned as she stepped in front of Sari and me.
Sari released me from the hug before she turns back to the stove.
“Didn’t Emma tell you what she knew?” I ask and walked to the refrigerator to make a sandwich for myself.
“She did! But you know how she is! If she thought it would be good for you to meet him she could probably even be okay with you being marked by him or forced to stay as his prisoner for a while” I just shake my head at the thought. I know Jessie is right.
Since the day I ran into her in the woods while she was fleeing by foot from being forced to be mated with a fifty years older widow who wanted her to be his sex slave, we have been inseparable. For a while it were us two against the world.
Trying to find food and when we one day came across Sari our new life began.
I had all these years of combat training with my father and I took the time to train her every day. Since then we often train just to keep us going. We have been on a lot of rescue missions and more than once have we been fighting for our lives. Not knowing if we were going to make it out alive or not.
There isn’t anyone else I would rather have by my side than her in a fight.
“I know you are right! I should have stayed away from going to the fight if I have known what would happen” I answered her while chewing my sandwich.
“How was it to see your mate again?” She asks me and I only have one thing to say.
“He is the same shitty mate since the last time I met him! No one I would ever want in my life!” I honestly tell her.
“Does he know you are a white wolf and what your gifts are?” Jacob suddenly asked, and I turned my head back to look at him.
“Unfortunately he knows I’m a white wolf but I didn’t give away any clues about my gifts and I’m going to keep it that way! I left his kingdom without a trace and they are going to think I’m dead, for a while at least. When they don’t find my body they might start to question if I’m dead or not” I tell her and sigh.
“And when he finds out you have fooled him, one day he will find out the truth!” I start to laugh at the thought. He might get angry and at least surprised.
“You are not afraid of his wrath?” Jessie asks curiously and I just shrug my shoulders.
“I’m not and the best thing is if he would reject me instead or accept my rejection! We could be free from

each other” I know he will probably never accept a rejection even how angry he would be. I have no problem living my life without a man in it, I have my family and friends here. We have a good thing going on and there is nothing I would rather have than them. It would just be easier if I didn’t have to look over- my shoulder all the time and be forced to hide my tracks.
Jessie starts to laugh and shakes her head.
“Anyway, our Alpha is finally back! A lot has happened since you left, and I think we’re going to be
swamped these next few days,” Jacob said as he stepped forward and gave me a big hug.
